you haz to do five i thinks... so according to you i have about 3 reppoints coming... that's about 11 more people... lol. You don't have to do all that. I combine rep all into one rep.
okay mai turn... Time to stump the chump
1. in what year did the Romans abandon the legionary system of fighting
2. How large was the force Aetius brought with him to chalons
3. What year did Aetius retake toledo
for the sake of owed rep I say that we propose a new rule that we don't answer the person who answers our own questions
lets let someone else hav a try

oh... okay who want's to answer? the only downside to this is that only people who know as much as I do about Aetius and the late roman army can really come close... Were all smart here but sometimes there's that impossible question you know what I mean?
I'll try, but I may get it wrong1. in what year did the Romans abandon the legionary system of fighting
2. How large was the force Aetius brought with him to chalons
3. What year did Aetius retake toledo
1) Right, the Western Roman Empire had it till it collapsed, reforming the system several times. The Eastern Roman Empire had the legionary system up to the Theme system, which is 620s - 630s?
2) Well it was a 30000 vs 30000 (very very approximate) battle, but Aetius apparently had just a few auxilary troops when he came from Italy to France (or Gaul) and didn't have regular troops with him.
3) I am not too sure here as well, (all damn hard questions if you ask me), but my guess is 438????? big question mark there

1. good enough, 630-640 with heraclius.
2. That is one estimate, although more modern suggestions place it around 70000 vs 70000 based on the size of the nations and availiblity of troops, along with the fact of pay.
3. Dead on the mark! Your turn.
Looks like your fears were unnecessary but I did have to get very creative in my searches
I would suggest we leave the Roman questions to MMFA though as he will probably get ours every time

anyways:
1) Name a famous army/corps (several divisions) which took part in the Russian Civil war, yet its members weren't former subjects of the Russian Empire (starting from October 1917 - 3 divisions).
2) Name the President of the US, during whose term of office the 28th state of the US was joined in to the Union
3) Supreme Commander of the Russian army from late July 1917 is... ?

1) the Czech Legion, I think; a corps formed of prisoneres of war being transported out of russia.
2) Polk ????
3) I know Kornilov was supreme commander during the early years of the provisional government, but after the military coup (in july) I think Kerensky took his place, but I'm not sure.
1) right
2) right
3) right

Oh goody!!
I got it right!
I'm so happy right now!!!!!!
sorry I'll ask the the questions now. (I've been asleep for a while)
1. In 1845 an expedition set off. Missing for three years subsequent expeditions was unable to find the ships. It is thought they died of food poisoning/starvation as the lead soldering on their tin cans failed. Who was the captain of this expedition and what was the target of the expedition?
2. The song "Rule Britannia", has the line "Britannia rules the waves"; but what was the original line (penned during walpoles reign as first prime minister of britain in1730s)?
3. What was the name of the 1st Duke of Wellington?
Thanks!
PS. sorry for this noobish question, but do you have to give rep to people who answer your questions, if so how do you do that?
