Hang on ... I remember one of these in the "Did you know?" sections of my Modern History textbook ... unfortunately, I don't have my book anymore.

I think it was by some Italians on the Eastern Front of WW2 or something. Don't know the exact circumstances, but that's what I think it was.

Oh that's easy. I know that (I'm an Aussie).

It's the Charge of the Light Horse Brigade at Beersheba. The Aussie 4th (I think) Battalion charged like 4 miles, overran the defenses and captured the walls.

I should have known it before you told me they were Aussies.

I got distracted but I'm trying to think of some questions now ... shouldn't be long.

    Sorry about that.

    Okay, questions:
    1. Who commissioned the Arc de Triomphe and when?
    2. What other title did William the Conquerer refer to himself as?
    3. When did did plebeians win the right to stand for the office of Consul?

    1) Commissioned by Napoléon Bonaparte in 1806 after the Batle of Austerlitz.
    2) William II Duke of Normandy / William I King of England ?
    3) 287 BC after the Conflict of the Orders.

    Heh, how dodgy. Oh well.

Matt gets to ask the next questions anyways since he got 2/3 but I think I have to wait till someone answers the last one right.

    Exactly right Blackadder.

Literally "William the Bastard" because of his illegitimacy.

He would actually often sign personal letters and the like with that title.

Okay, the honours go to Matt for the next questions.

    Ok, my questions:

    1) What is the name of the commando leader that rescued Benito Mussolini from his imprisonment after his overthrow during World War II ?
    2) What is the name of the Frankish king who prevented the Muslim conquest and Islamization of western Europe ?
    3) Who lead the disastrous Charge of the Light Brigade during the Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean War (1854-1856) ?

    In one tab-wikipedia.org
    In another tab-Quiz(Reward included)
    And dudes,your work is done!!
I personally think that this is a waste of time. It completely removes the challenge and fun.

    3) Lord Cardigan - heh, something was on the history channel about the charge of the light brigade yesterday.

So I got 2/3 does that mean I get to ask again?

If so, I really can't be stuffed, maybe you could ask 3 questions Giorgos?

    1. This is a trick question. Belgrade was declared an open city therefore it cannot be "captured". Anyway, SS Hauptsturmfuehrer Fritz Klingenberg of the 2nd SS Panzer Division “Das Reich” flew the Nazi flag in the Ministry of War being the first Officer that entered the city.

    2. I am lost here. If you refer to the Manchu banners system that was 8.

    3. Well done, Lad
