    Icon3 Increased Musket/Arquebus Smoke

    Intro:
    PlasticFigurine and I have modded the desc_artillary_effects txt file to increase the amount and longetivity of arquebus/musket smoke.

    EDIT: Version 1.3A uploaded 03/02/07
    Compatible with 1.2 Update.

    1.3 Changes:
    - Modding of Artillary smoke
    - Further tweaking of musketry smoke duration and density parameters
    - 1.3A Changes: reverted muskets to 1.2, roughly....

    Nice mod, Headlock, we can finally have Pike and Shot battles wreathed in acrid smoke.

    The modders for various renaissance mods are gonna love this one

    I don't mean to be annoying, but perhaps some vanilla and mod pics of Arquebusiers or Musketmen firing would be some help. Just a suggestion.

    What changes do you have to do get it disappear quicker after it risen above the heads of the solders as it looks crap in my view

    Nice, that's one thing I thought was needed in MTW2. Now, disregarding any stupidity, since my knowledge of such things come solely from documentaries and movies, shouldn't the smoke from muskets be a tad whiter?

    I should place this to my Data and activate io file first thing?
    I tried placing it in a mod folder's data, didn't see a change...really want this mod!

    Some text files simply don't work when being put in any other than the normal data-folder. For instance descrs_effect_impacts.txt. And it seems to be the same for this mod.

    And as no one can really tell what file is working with a mymod-switch and which not, I gave up on the whole mod switch thing. Too bad...

    Thank you very much, everyone, for the comments.

    I agree with many of you, there is a lot of scope for improvement-

    as shown in the pics above, especially when the smoke is viewed "from inside".

    So:
    1. Increase Cannon smoke
    2. Increase amount, and diffusion of musket smoke; I am aware it could hang around a long time in real-life, but there is an FPS consideration, due to the vast number of muskets firing compared to the 4-5 cannon typically in a M2 battle.
    3. Meddle with CAS files to make musket smoke whiter. I think it just uses the cannon smoke, only at a smaller scale. I know nothing about CAS files, so someone can do this for me,or wait till saturday when i have time to leaRn

    I will hope fully have an update tonight (GMT)

    I noticed that you altered some effects, some not. For instance some of the bombards or the rocket launcher haven't been changed...any reason? Or should this be considered just a beta version to test things out?
