I just played a Rome2 campaign, and even with radious or DEI, the mechanics and balance on the pikes you have in Attilas Ancient Empires, is way better. Not overpowered(enemy infantry still loses if they charge), but can be broken versus higher tier melee units. Makes it alot less tedious playing against Macedon etc.

Don't know if other players agree, but the balance is pretty nails on.

In Rome2, Pikes destroy other units head on, without losing a single casualty.

In AE pikes still get alot of casualties and routing. So you want pikes to be obsolete or what?

They aren't too easy to beat head on, even surrounded they last quite a while but the way the ai uses them means they are usually easy to surround. It'd be perfect if the ai put pike units in formation together, as in formed a line of pikes. That'd be difficult to break up.
