The US defending itself from IRAQ, are you kidding me?
How could poor Iraq attack the US(the biggest military on the planet) 7,000 miles away? With its non-existing WMDs?

But no relationship between Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaida or the 9/11 attacks could be established. George W. Bush claiming he was harboring Al-Qaida was another lie.

The US is responsible for the sectarian violence in Iraq, they put the Shia in charge of the country who persecuted the Sunni population and old Baathists. The Sunni insurgency was a logical consequence, and Al-Qaida of Iraq simply took advantage of the anarchy, proclaiming a Sunni-Caliphate(Islamic State). And thanks for strenthening ISIS military capabilities with american military equipment left behind.

Iraq under Saddam... was a leading sponsor of Islamist organizations and terrorist groups abroad
ISIS emerged in the chaos of post-war Iraq. Period. According to Joshua Landis, director of the Center for Middle East Studies at the University of Oklahoma,
the war destroyed the country’s governing structures. "They also cast out the Sunni elite and Iraqi military from the top of society down to the bottom of society, eliminating their pensions, jobs and futures. This misguided and destructive action infuriated a large swath of Iraqi society, many of whom joined al-Qaida and became ‘terrorists’
The invasion of Iraq was an unjustified act of military aggression, launched on a false pretense. Chilcot report: Findings at-a-glance 7 July 2016.

    - judgements about the severity of the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction - or WMD - were presented with a certainty that was not justified.
    - Policy on the Iraq invasion was made on the basis of flawed intelligence assessments. It was not challenged, and should have been.
-intelligence had "not established beyond doubt" that Saddam Hussein had continued to produce chemical and biological weapons
-The circumstances in which it was decided that there was a legal basis for UK military action were "far from satisfactory"
    Last but not least,
-the UK's actions undermined the authority of the United Nations Security Council: The UN's Charter puts responsibility for the maintenance of peace and security in the Security Council. The UK government was claiming to act on behalf of the international community "to uphold the authority of the Security Council". But it knew it did not have a majority supporting its actions.
    ----
In fact, a spokesman for some of the families of the 179 British servicemen and women killed in Iraq during the conflict said their relatives died "unnecessarily and without just cause and purpose".
    ----
2017, New analysis of Chilcot Report highlights deception at the heart of the
9/11 was exploited in order to pursue a regime-change policy against countries unconnected with Al Qaeda and Islamic fundamentalist terrorism.

... we find the Chilcot Report does in fact present ample evidence of deception through deliberate exaggerations and omissions whereby officials misled both with regard to the strength of the intelligence on Iraq’s alleged WMDs and with respect to the possibility of a peaceful accommodation via Iraq compliance with UN disarmament requirements.
Professor Robinson’s analysis finds communications between US President George W Bush and Blair and other official documents cited by Chilcot indicate that, within weeks of 9/11, the US and UK governments were conspiring to initiate a wide-ranging ‘war on terror’ which included using the ‘war on terror’ to ‘clear up other problems’ in the Middle East and which discussed ‘hitting’ Iraq, Syria and Iran. The documents also reveal that these plans were intended to be covert and underpinned by a ‘close-knit propaganda campaign’.
...the discussion of ‘propaganda campaigns’ by Blair and another official raises the question of how far Western publics were misled into supporting a ‘war on terror’ aimed at removing ‘enemy’ states rather than tackling terrorism.
Discussions about when to ‘hit’ Iraq, Syria and Iran, coupled with other evidence that the US was planning a series of regime change wars, raises the important question of whether the current conflagration in the Middle East, involving wars in Iraq, Syria and Yemen (plus also Libya (North Africa), represent the outcome of the geo-strategic planning documented by the Chilcot Inquiry.
Edit. And again, America is not an evil country. The U.S. has, independently of what happens, a vibrant civil society - and a free press.
