problems launching RTR FOE

Hello does anyone know a fix for Rome Total Realism Fate of Empires crashing at start up on an "ActiveVideo Window"?

I mean just after the entry video when it starts loading and something like an "ActiveVideo Window" pops up and it crashes right after.

Is there anyway I can edit my post in this forum? I will just have post another message then. So I was saying that after the intro movie and just after a while when it start loading the game into the main menu it crashes back to desktop with this "ActiveMovie Window" I grabbed a screenshot of here in this picture. How can I solve this? Is this a problem of the screen resolution of my graphic card that I have to change?

Have you tried starting your mod with the -nm switch? Could be a special intro movie that is missing?

Check what resolution is set in the preferences CFG file

Setting the executable file(s) to Win98 and admin rights might help as well. Similar as here.

What video card do you have? if it is nvidia try going into the control panel and disable antialiasing or set it to application controlled

What's the -nm switch? Is it the Numeric Lock?
I am not sure if this is the right preferences CFG file I opened in this screenshot:
C:\Documents and Settings\Amministratore\Documenti\Rome.Total.War.Gold.Edition.TPTB\FOE\preferences\preferences.txt

I tried to set the executable file C:\Documents and Settings\Amministratore\Documenti\Rome.Total.War.Gold.Edition.TPTB\launcher\Rome Total Realism VII.exe to Win98\WinNT and Win 2000 none didn't work and admin rights option isn't available. I'm using WindowsXP.

My graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 and its antialiasing setting don't seem to be adjustable

I wish I could know how to format my drive and install an operating system in english language not italian.

@Bifidius....Open properties on your desktop icon and in the target line add -nm

More detailed instructions about the -nm switch (disables movies) is given by Saul Tyre, eg add to the desktop short's command line.
The executable to make compatible is the RomeTW one in the root of the game.
