Salve citizens!
It has been many months since any large update for Ancient Empires, although you may have seen interspersed patch notes with smaller fixes. Rest assured that one of the largest (if not the largest) updates as of yet is in production. Official update notes will hit the forums in the next couple of days, including an estimated release date.
Until then, we'd like to involve the community in a decision that has been subject to some controversy, namely that of 2 vs 4 default turns per year (TPY) for the base mod. There were reasons for the shift to 2, but at this point we feel like the community has had time to get familiar with both approaches and would therefore like to extend an invitation to vote on the subject.
Advantages of 2 TPY
- Fits the time frame better (202 BC to ~100 AD)
- Ideal to "cycle" between rulers; more dynastic gameplay. Ruler Traits suit this iteration
Advantages of 4 TPY
- Seasonal variation and planning optimal (pronounced seasonal effects)
- More time for character development (skill tree, traits)
I ran out of ideas here, but both lists can clearly be expanded
