    Default Checking campaign difficulty mid-game

    Hi guys!

Really awesome mod and getting back to EB2 after awhile. I started a new game recently but forgot what CAI difficulty i was on, whether is was Medium or Hard. is there anyway to check it mid-game?

Good question, I can think of various internal flags that are set with difficulty, but I don't know that there's any UI that will display them.
It began on seven hills - a historical house-ruled Romani AAR
    Heirs to Lysimachos - a semi-historical Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR
Philetairos' Gift - a second attempt at an Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR

monitor mercenary pools. if it gets depleted then AI recruits some, meaning it is either Hard or Very Hard Campaign, as they dont seem to recruit mercenaries on Medium.

Can you think of something else or give more detail on how to monitor mercenary pools? I am pondering the same as I do not remember what campaign difficulty I picked and picking the right one for the next playthrough would be essential. The AI seems to come at me with fairly motley armies comprising of different cultures, but I am not sure if they recruit them from cities or on the way.

You can actually check the difficulty of your save game files. There's a tool for that, but I forgot what it's called - sorry, it's been a few years since I used it.
I recommend a pugio rather than a spear, because in close quarters combat, a dagger will serve you better than a spear.

a rather primitive method. save you game so you can go back to that save later. get a character outside a city. now in his merc recruitment options note what is available and in what quantities. press end turn for several turns and see if there is any changes in the pool. hope that helps.
