Thread: New version of VLC

    Default New version of VLC

I have been using the free video player VLC for some time with no problems. But when i installed the new version of VLC 3.0.4 the problems started. Now if i click on an ordinary file of folder (not video file) VLC tries to open it instead. The only way i can open the file/folder is to click on it and select open.

So how do i stop VLC trying to open non video files ?

You'll need to change VLC's file associations.
    Follow my lead:

    1) Go to VLC Media Player menu, click on Tools and then on Preferences.
    2) Then Interface Settings, use the scroll bar on the right to scroll down.
    3) Bottom, under Operating System Integration. Click on Set up associations.
    4) A Windows settings screen will pop up. From there, you can select the extensions that you would like VLC to open by default.
    5) Here you can select the desired extensions individually or you can just click select all to make VLC the default for all those listed media file types.

Feel free to reach me for any other question you may have.
