This is the submission/nomination thread for MAARC LXXVIII!

    Eligibility

Two updates are needed since October 1, 2018.

    Only one entry per person.

The first place winner in the previous competition cannot enter this one.

Only work that is posted on TWC is eligible to enter.

Writers' Study Staff have discretion to disqualify nominations where it would be unfair to allow them to enter, for example in cases of plagiarism.

If you have a question or want to check whether an entry is eligible, please send a private message to a member of the Writers' Study Staff.

    Advertising

Advertising the competition is allowed. Inviting people to submit their writing is okay.

Asking for votes for a particular submission is not allowed and will result in disqualification.

Breaking the rules will result in measures at the discretion of the Writers' Study Staff.

    Submissions

Authors are encouraged to submit their own work.

To enter, post on this thread with all of the following information:

    • the author's name

    • a short description/teaser
    • the game(s) used
    • details (if applicable) of mod(s) used
    • details (if applicable) of faction

If you want to nominate someone else's AAR, you must ask for (and obtain) their permission before posting the nomination.

    Voting

Six entries are needed to run a regular competition.

If, after a month, we have fewer than six entries, then we wait until there are three or more submissions.

    Awards

    • 4 points for the Winner
    • 3 points for Second Place
    • 2 points for Third Place

If the competition has fewer than six entries, then first place will receive three points and second place will receive two.

If nobody minds, I think I will start off the submissions with a little self-promotion of my ongoing AAR!

    Author: Kilo11
    Title: Written in Sand
Description: The AAR is a slower-paced more novel-like piece following the exploits of Mun'at Ha'Qadri, a Nabataean general who is tasked with uniting the tribes of Arabia, but has dreams of his own to conquer the settlements of the Nile. Along the way his men will encounter not just the perils of war but of exposure and the harsh realities of desert crossings, not to mention the arrogance and foolishness of princes.

    Mods: Europa Barbarorum v2.3

To further get the ball rolling on this MAARC, I with great pleasure nominate the fairly new but amazingly brilliant AAR of Skotos of Sinope, which follows the exploits of two Etruscan brothers.*

    Author: Skotos of Sinope
Title: The Last Chariots of the Tarquins
Description: The AAR includes beautiful images, but is primarily a prose-based accounting of the journeys of Arnth and Avle, Etruscan brothers caught between the Gallic hordes and the ever-hungry hearts of the Ramnenses (Romans). Their journeys include the perils of blade and bow, but of hunger and thirst as well, of sickness and exhaustion, and the caprices of duplicitous politicians as well. It is a tragedy and it is an adventure, but most of all, The Last Chariots of the Tarquins is an experience, and one not to be missed.**
Game: Rome II, Rise of the Republic DLC
Mods: GEM; Skotos' Etruscan Chariot Generals Mod
    Faction: Tarchuna

*NOTE: I have obtained permission from Skotos to nominate his work, so no worries on that count
**DISCALIMER: Given that I am just a reader of the AAR, this description is based on my assessment of the main plot of the story from what's been posted so far. It might very well turn out quite differently, and I am dying to find out exactly what will happen!

I am actually rushing this at the moment, will edit this when I have more internet time (how did I forget about the MAARCs??)

    Author: Swaeft
    Title: God's Justice
Description: The royal family is being targeted, the castles and cities of the Kingdom of Jerusalem are under threat, and the Saracens are as fearsome as ever. Good, hardened soldiers are as hard to find as allies, and the Kingdom is desperately short on men. A young prince, having just come of age, has to meander and find his way through various trials and tribulations in the timeless sands of the Holy Land.
    Game: Medieval 2 Total War
    Mods: Stainless Steel 6.4
    Faction: The Crusader States
