Bageard bristled at the mans tone. "I am all of those things." Richard says his voice firm, "and as of now the most powerful Landholder in Normandy. I am sure that that means nothing to you. My Lord." The man still had not given his name. Perhaps this meeting and this whole affair had been a mistake. Why should he aid people that treat him like dirt. "If you do not think I am worthy enough to be believed I will depart here."

Alan ground his teeth, considering the proposal in his silence. As it stood, he did not have anything left to lose.

"Swear it. On your immortal soul. Then I will come to you to Mortain."

"I swear on my immortal soul Robert Curthose is alive in Mortain, and on my honor none of you will be harmed in accompanying me there. May god damn me to hell if this is not true." With that he glances at the Lords. "You may come or not, but as of now I will take my leave." He had little more to add to these stuck up nobles. There was a reason it seemed his father had risen higher then any of them.

"I and Giffard will go, then."

He wasn't idiot enough to risk Richard himself, especially not to this traitorous rodent. Behind his false piety he was undoubtedly self serving, for why else would he wish to betray the man who had given him everything he owned?

"Come, Lord Walter. Let us go and see."

Walter listened to what was said. He knew that his older brother was destined to wed a daughter of the late Earl of Gloucester. It seemed that union had gone through, from what Richard indicated. This smelled like a trap, but Alan Rufus seemed wanting to confirm this with his own eyes. Something that Giffard could relate to. Better to confirm this than disprove it from where they stood. He looks at the Duke of Normandy.

At least you will be safe here, with Count Herbert, my Lord. We will be back swiftly.

With that said, he departs the tent with Alan and Bageard, riding with them back towards Normandy.

Richard was at an awe, he was over stemmed in this convo and he didn't quiet like it but nothing could be done about it now. Richard got up and sternly said. "Go then and bring back good news." However what good news would be now is not specified.. both side of the coins are good and bad.

A lone figure sat at the end of a long table eating. Adorned in well cut clothes of a light weave he sat with a straightened posture with his head looking down at his meal. His skin sporting a healthy tan that was uncommon for the region. Now longer sporting a bald crown, his hair was cut short but sharp looking.

Robert sat in the long hall of Mortain Casle. Breaking his fast with a hearty plate of sausage, bacon, eggs, and hot bread. He had been enjoying a lot of things lately, ever since his escape from Lombard. And in such a short time so much had changed. Alliances had dissolved, wars had erupted and lords were dead; among them Lord Badger. Perhaps such misfortune was god punishment for breaking their oaths an obligations. Or perhaps it was the devil playing havoc in the lives of men. Either way it created opportunities for himself.

Richard had told him of the exiled lords who still supported his cause, and surely there were others in England who could be persuaded to turn against Edgar. Perhaps this was all meant to be. Could he retrace the steps of his father and seize England for himself. Only time would tell.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Robert looks up to see a group of men walking down the hall. They appeared finely dressed, and seemed somewhat familiar; though he could not quite place them.

Walter Giffard walks into the hall of Mortain Castle... some old memories began to resurface. Lord Mortain had been good to him, till the dawn of the battle. He seemed to have lost his edge that day and rushed to invade England across the Channel. He wasn't sure what caused it, but there was no point in finding out the state of dead men. No tale would be sung though. His eyes immediately focused though to an individual within the hall who was eating breakfast. There was a familiarity to his appearance, but he wasn't entirely sure if this was the very same Robert Curthose, eldest son of William de Normandie. Walter approaches the table where Robert sat, noticing the slowly growing returning shade of hair on his head.

Was the monastery good to you, Sir Robert?

Walter says as he speaks with the supposed son of William.

We are rather surprised by how Lord Bageard here told us of your location when the rest of us thought you were dead or under arrest somewhere.

Walter continues to look at Robert.

Your brother, Richard, has been well taken care of. Richard resides at the court of Count Herbert of Vermandois, his future father-in-law.

An English noble arrived at the court of the young pretender King. Tired and severely weakened from years in captivity it could only be one man, the elder Roger de Mowbray. Banished for murdering Gilbert de Clare. Mowbray wishes to speak with someone close to the young pretender King so that he might join their cause.

As the man drew closer Robert could get a better look at the man. He had seen him before, though he could not place where. Giving a cool smile "I take it your a friend of Lord Bageard. Though likely not a close one or I would have seen you sooner." Whoever this man was, he lacked courtesy, but held a bluntness that was somewhat appealing.

"As you can seen I am very much alive, no thanks to Lord Gerold." though the gods had seen fit to curse him for that transgression "Shortly after King Edgar spoke to me of aiding me in reclaiming my seat in Normandy. I was approached by Lord Gerold, who gave me a choice, exile or death." really it was no choice at all "From there I was escorted by armed guard under cover of darkness to the harbor. From there I was taken to an island in Lombard where I was forced into taking vows." ones that had left him abandoned and alone.

"And to answer you question. Yes, I suppose you could call my exile pleasant, if rather boring."
