Thread: Food mechanic

    Default Food mechanic

In my current campaign, I have more food than I should have.
I don't know if it is different from the base game, but this is the first time I noticed this.

E.g. in one province the only food building is a farm (+5 food), the cities take in total -5 food, but the province has a food surplus of +3. All provinces give me +2 or +3 more food than they should give.
Where does it come from? Are there hidden traits? My imperium level gives me +2 food, does it mean it actually gives +2 food in every province? And if this is the case, is the +3 food from completing Tier I in Economy also per province?

Each region has a certain minos or bonus food, some start off with negative food for example.

From my experience the food level and predicted income strangely fluctates as you click on characters and settlements. (though, I still play the 1.2.2 version)

Thanks for the information, found the bonus in-game.
So i guess the +3 food from completing Economy Tier I will add 3 food to the global supply and not 3food/province?

Yes, the economy research tier food is calculated once to the global supply, not per province. Similarly the low-Imperium bonus food.

    Different question related to food:

Do food bonuses top out at +4 growth? So if I have 80+ food it just sits at +4?

I haven't pumped out that much food in awhile but I feel like I remember not being able to achieve higher than that.

Good thing we don't have to build farms in dei each turn after they run out of food.

I would love to see my men break down stone walls of enemy cities with their weapons though.

Hmmmm, that makes me wonder. What would be the range of a converting monk? How long would it take? How many monks per monks unit? What would be the armor values? So many questions...
