Thread: You are the faction leader – a community campaign

Default You are the faction leader – a community campaign

In most of the TW games you play as multiple characters across the centuries during a single campaign. You are not a character in the game, you are an entire dynasty/faction/country. But have you wonder how it would be if you were ONLY one character during a limited period and, when that character dies, you pass the leadership of your faction to a different player? Just like in “real” life?

I was thinking on that and I had an idea for a community campaign. This it how it works:
    - Each faction leader represents a different human player.
    - When a faction leader dies, the player stops immediately his campaign and save the game.
    - The player then shares the save file in this forum (the save files are in C:\....*user*\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2\save_games)
    - Anyone interested in playing as the next faction leader should download the file, load it in Rome 2, and play that game until the new faction leader dies.
    - Repeat all steps above until the campaign is finished.

CURRENT CAMPAIGN: ROME (HOUSE OF JULIA)

    Dictators of Rome:

Lucius Libo (Boicote): 272 BC- 238 BC

    Marcus ( Caesar16): 238 BC - ?
    Part 1; Part 2 : coming soon

So, I will start a new campaign with the Julia family, on hard, without mods (except an UI mod that does not interfere in the gameplay).

My character is Lucius Libo, a 41-years-old general, dictator of Rome.

The first priority of Rome under his leadership was to annihilate the Etruscans.

Meanwhile, through a diplomatic mission, Rome was able to take Karalis from Carthage.

When war with the Etruscans was over, Lucius decided to marry with the queen of the Dalmatae in order to create alliance that could be useful if future wars against the barbarian tribes in northern Italy

Then, after a successful military campaign led by Lucius Libo , Rome as able to annex the entire province of Cisalpina

Later, Rome got involved in a war against Epirus. The leader of the Papira family led an expedition to conquer Apollonia.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The expedition was a disaster. Epirus reinforced the garrison of Apollonia and the leader of the Papiria family was killed in battle. This event almost triggered a civil war. However, the diplomatic skills of Lucius avoided the conflict.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The war against Epirus ended few turns later when the Ardiaei conquered Apollonia.

The next move of Rome was to annex Sicily.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Few turns later, in 238 BC, Lucius Libo died of old age when he was in command of an army in north Italy.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

He was succeeded by a young general named Marcus.

This is the political situation when Marcus came to power:

Now, who wants to play as Marcus?

This sounds intriguing. People (characters) can either learn from their predecessors or ignore them. Continue their legacies or abandon them. Maintain relations with allies or change them. Very realistic.

Has someone already taken Marcus or can I lead Roma to glory?

No, not yet. You can play as Marcus.
He is a young general. If he is not kiiled in battle or assassitated, it's likely that you will play the next 25-30 turns .
    Good luck! .

However I am not aware of the UI mod being used. I guess I will need it?

You don't need it. The save file is compatible with the vanilla version of the game without that mod.

Great initiative, I enjoyed the first installment and look forward to the story of Marcus!

Previously, I could see the pictures, but today they have disappeared (at least on my computer). When I click 'Show' on the spoilers, nothing happens. One possible solution is to upload the pictures to an album on your TWC profile, I summarised how to do that in this post.

I could see every picture in the spoilers, perhaps clearing your cookies might help. Or is there a forum glitch, I dunno.
Under patronage of General Brewster of the Imperial House of Hader.

Young and inexperienced Marcus begins his campaign.

He began with the restructuring of the army and the reconstruction in provinces.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

His next focus was diplomacy where there was a change in foreign policy of Rome.

The former dictator, Lucius Libio, had respectable relations with Carthage and with Libya. However, some sectors of Roman society didn't agree with that and now war has begun.
It's interesting to note that Libya didn't join the war against Rome.

Well the Romans moved in to assist the Massaeyli in their war against Carthage. Of course this was just an excuse to not to show themselves as aggressors and avoid Libyan aggression (temporarily)

Caesar16, it's good to see you continuing this AAR! Unfortunately, I can't see your images either (as before, I don't think you're doing anything wrong, the problem seems to be either with my computer or a forum glitch.)

Thanks, Leonardo. I tried clearing everything in my cache, clearing my entire history, updating my browser to the latest version and using a different browser. Nothing worked (I still can't see the pictures), so I've reported the problem in Questions and Suggestions.

Wow, I like this idea a lot. And it's cool that already we can see different"faction leaders" having different priorities. I'd be interested in having a go at it

Btw I can see the pics

    Hmmmm....
Perhaps someone else should lead Marcus in this campaign...
Apparently, Caesar16 is not an active member in this forum .

This is an amazing idea, but unfortunately I don't have Rome II. Given the ridiculous awesomeness of the idea, I might just ponder getting it though, provided my machine can handle the game. We will see...
