"I would like to receive a letter from your clerk that acknowledges the delivery of the money Lord de Clare and I am not about to abandoned it beyond these walls. I give you my word I will keep a hundred paces from the chest in distance and will take into possession the document, unarmed." Mowbray was lenient today it seemed.

Richards men though unseen by mowbray were ready for an attack should there be a surprise.
Very well I shall have my bannerman bring you the letter
The men opened the outer gate, the bannermen approached the chest and took it within the walls. The captain of the guard approached Mowbray giving the signed and sealed letter describing mowbray’s fulfillment of his obligations.

Mowbray thanked the Lord and moved towards the King's court next.
