Roman army continues the campaign in Greece. It surprised us that Athens and Sparta left Corinthians alone againts Roman as if its not part of the Greek Cities. City quickly surrendered to Rome.

The winter of 267BC was snowy , and the Spartan troops engaged with some light hearted entertaining snowball fights [as only they would] which erupted into some fistfights as a few of the more competitive Spartans hid rocks within the snowballs..



The king of Sparta grinned at the news that the romans had moved across the straits to attack the city of Corinth. The defences had been lowered in hope of luring the roman army out of their illegally captured city of Thermon, and to reveal their intentions and strengths and it had proved to have been somewhat of a success. The Roman garrison left behind was not however as large as the Spartan king would have liked, but beggars couldn't be choosey in seeing who would full into their trap.

It was lucky however that the army of Corinth had been called to Sparta itself to join in with the joint exercises with the other greek states therefore keeping it from destruction and practicing there hoplite training under Sparta officers. Now however, the romans had acted , and greek diplomats descended on the old greek city , renegotiating matters, with the two hastati companies as a garrison. With some swift bribes the minor legions took the bait, especially with the pricey but world renowned Temple of Aphrodite nearby, where they could spend there well won cash.

Likewise something unexpected was the excellent three roman spies that still remained within the city. They were given the familiar welcome of guests to the greek city , given lavish homes and luxuries , and then the stick was delivered , in that they would face severe punishments unless they would work for the greek states. It did not take long for the three roman spies to change sides [as most spies were woke to do , particularly when they saw the benefits as opposed to the penalties] and they began to take on spying task's against there former leaders. It was not a particularly hard task to turn these people, as like most of the spies in Rome they had come from the lower class of romans , and most were used to being looked down upon from the aristocrat's who ran the senate, and they looked forward to using their experience of the roman state against there former comrades.





Likewise the fort to the northwest of Corinth was also subject to bribes , as the roman defences were rolled back , just leaving the romans with there ballista which were being prepared within the city of Thermon. Roman fleets still sat hovering in the sea's between Italy and Greece , slowly building in size, with another just hovering out of range of crete with a ballista crew and a small marine force. They were joined now , by a large carthagian fleet , which joined the buildup , as likewise the greek fleets prepared for the defence of there own seas, looking forward to the challenge to come, led by Athenian admirals.



With the defence lines redrawn and improved , diplomat's hurried to move towards the last remaining Macedonian city, hoping to announce a new alliance between the two Hellenic cultures , but unfortunately there were not able to reach there lands this season but there was sure to arrive for the next , and urged the Macedonian peoples to make there peace with the fierce barbarians of the north, keeping themselves in the fight until the next season. The greek cities equally reminded the Macedonians, that there was sure to be some rich pickings of the carcass of Rome , when it and its allies were broken and the rest of the nearby people's were set free of its influence.
