How far from done are the other factions?

I am going to play my first campaign as Rome, because Rome is just the bees knees. All of the bees, and all of their knees. So I don't mind waiting a bit to play as dirty barbarians, but I am wondering how far out those might be? Not looking for a release date, but is it just fleshing them out and finishing them up, or is there a lot of work left to be done to get them playable? And which factions will be worked on first, and released first (or are a bunch of them gonna come out together, or all in 1 big lump?)?

Can't wait to play this mod. Gonna whip Hannibal like slave, then I am gonna burn down Spain for siding with him, then I am gonna proceed to burn dobitwn Macedon for also siding with him! Oh I can't wait.

We will most likely release factions as they are ready, in small groups. The Eastern and Arab factions are closest; if I were to guess, factions of these cultures that won't make it into the release tomorrow (e.g. Media, Saba, Numidia) will be released within weeks. With Barbarians, we're quite far away. Their units are long finished, but the buildings need to be rebalanced from scratch. In addition, we aim to make their playstyle different from civilised factions, emphasizing the trust between a chieftain and his subjects. Armies - basically only loyal as long as they are victorious, and characters that are too successful will be inclined to turn against you. This is largely the product of trait interactions, and we've gotten far here. Once the mod is out and other factions released, it will be possible to start focusing on the balance here.

you can unlock them right after release by editing mod files, i guess

Sounds good, thanks for the answer. Looking forward to trying out a different style of play with barbarians. On a side note, when (GMT) does AE come out tomorrow? Would love to wake up and then spank Hannibal (which is not a reference to my genitals).

Ouch, that will make it 00:00 where I live, so technically speaking the mod releases on the 19th for me

Yes, the Roxolani, Scythia and Tauri will be playable at some point. Like the other Barbarians, their roster is complete, but buildings completely unbalanced.
