I have always thought that when it comes to Roman camps, the auxiliaries would sleep on the edges of the camp. After finding out that, when it comes to permanent forts, the auxiliaries would get smaller forts. I.E.: The forts at Hadrian's wall. But I have tried to find out where they would sleep for the night when on campaign with the legions. Nothing on the internet. So my question is: When it comes to temporary camps, where were the auxiliaries for the night?
