    Default Early Generals Mod

    I've heard people request that the current captain's model be replaced with the one seen in the Hastings historical battle...well, here it is. I just added the file a minute ago and I hope you guys enjoy it.

    EDIT: Pictures are in the link incase you want to see them...and if you want to see the captains of any other (european) factions, just ask. Also, please let me know if you have any problems.

    EDIT #2: And if any admins can think of a better thread name, please change it

    The download file is messed up.

    There is no Unit_Models folder inside the download.

    It looks like this.

    Spearmen>>
    battle_models.modeldb
    final slavic_test_diff.texture

    If you could fix this quickly that would be awesome.

    Awesome, the captain looks a lot better IMO. Thanks for making this
    I'm glad it works for the byzantines also, I hate seeing their leaders in plate, it looks so wrong lol.

    The file is fixed now. Also, yes, this should be compatible with any mod.

    So this doesnt replace the generals model that rides on a horse does it. If it only changes the one for the ground based captain used for custom battles then can you make it for generals.

    Because i would really like to use this in a full game.

    Yes, it edits cavalry captains too.

    EDIT: or do you mean that you want me to make these into generals instead of captains? If so, that's easy.

    I'm talking about the General, not the captain. If this only changes the normal captain and not the accual General(Which can onyl be used on a horse) then i'd like to know. Since i have been waiting for a general model change because the ones now look messed up.

    You did a good job i was just hoping this was for the named generals and not for just captains.

    In the Grand Campaign you should never go into battle without a general so we would never really see them.

    EDIT: Saw your last edit, And yes thats what i want.

    I want this for the Mounted NAMED Generals AND the normal Captains. Because the model used for both of these is really bad. Maybe one day yopu can make it where kings accually use the kings model with its crown.

    I am also interested in having generals only get plate at a certain ago OR by retraining at a castle with full plate armoury.

    It does look stupid to have full plate at hastings period.... a little like seeing an alien with a ray gun amongst romans

    @Remo - I just threw together a version that changes the generals instead of captains...PM me your email address and I'll send them to you.

    I also just had an idea (although it wouldn't quite look right) where I could give the generals version crowns and keep the captains the way they are (so you can tell them apart). Would you be interested?

    Yea i would,

    Allthough it wouldnt be "Historically Correct", i think it would look awesome.

    If you could do that then send it to me through the PM system that would be awesome. My email adress is mainly used for my business and 95% of other emails are junked instantly. So i dont feel very safe with you sending it to me through my email.

    You could release that version as an extra "Special" version on here. I'm sure others would download it. Just leave the Byzantines out as their not really northern. I think you would allready do that anyways though.

    I just uploaded a new version which gives you the choice of what you want to install. I could leave out the Byzantines, but that would involve some coding and maybe heavily editing the skin; neither of which am I really feeling like doing right now.

    Disclaimer : I haven't tested the newest version, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are problems.

    Having CTD's after installing. I also installed the new dearmads but i dont think its that...

    Check to see fi you CTD aswell.

    what units do you have where it is CTD for you? It worked for me loading up an english and scottish army... I'll try some horses.

    I'm using The Long Road mod, and i just threw your mod over the top. It might be your Expanded text that makes it CTD.

    I'm still checking...

    It doesnt really CTD, it just gets to the splash screen and crashes right back to desktop.

    That would be a problem reading in a txt file of some sort, I think.

    This mod worked for me again with a huge Byzy battle versus turks.

    And -ahem- my mod is, of course, in use too.

    If you enable the logfile no doubt your error will show up there.
