Information Thread for Potential New Northern Human Tribes

In the very distant past, most if not all of the Northmen's ancestors were descended from Humans who ventured northward during Humanity's earlier migration. Whilst the more "civilized" tribes colonized the lands of Tilea, Estalia and the Border Princes, some of these tribes continued northward until they've reached the frozen tundra's that separates the rolling plains of the Eastern Steppes from the frozen wastelands of the Chaos Waste. Being in such close proximity to the Northern Warp Gates, it was inevitable that in time the Dark Gods began to slowly corrupt and enslave the minds of the Northern Human Tribes. The resulting centuries of Chaos influence eventually led to wide-spread mutation and social stagnation. While the people of the south developed into powerful semi-unified nations, the people of the North still regress to primitive savages living within isolated Tribes scattered all across the northlands. However, the centuries of harsh living within an even harsher landscape had since bred the Northmen's into unparalleled warriors, whose swollen frame and large stature had made them stand far taller then even the most powerfully-built southern warriors.

Once the Daemon has done its work, they banish the creature and welcome the newly born Darksoul into their midst. Those who become Darksouls are forever changed, their humanity stripped from them for all time. They become wild and crazed creatures, retaining their human form but being of an utterly inhuman mind.

Flayerkin = These are mutants crafted from a vile blend of Marauder, shaven and hell-forged iron. Unbeknownst to Archaon at the time, his warband had ridden into the territory of a brutal chieftain calling himself the Hu-Mung-us, a chariot-riding giant of a marauder – nearly twice as tall as his stunted Mung tribesman.”

    Siege Train
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"The only realistic solution to breaking massive fortifications is to employ a formidable siege train which includes siege engines of gigantic proportions capable of smashing down the strongest walls, gates and towers quickly. These machines are so huge that they cannot easily be constructed in the field. Instead, they must be manufactured in advance, often in pre-fabricated sections which can be transported in wagons, on ships, or stored until needed in fortresses."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Giant Battering Ram = "The giant battering ram is cut from the tallest and strongest tree in the realm and shod with a massive iron or bronze head. Hundreds of men are needed to pull the ropes that swing the ram to strike a gate or fortress wall. One blow will smash great oak doors like matchwood or crumbles masonry into powder, collapsing towers and walls like sand castles. The hides of a thousand beasts form its canopy, protecting the operators from the arrows of the defenders."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Monstrous Stone Thrower = "This is a catapult operated by a massive counterweight which swings a long shaft and hurls a boulder a very great distance. The huge boulder will smash any ramparts that it strikes. The catapult is made of thick timbers to withstand the stress and strain, but the parts can be transported individually on wagons and are lashed togehter into a catapult in the siege lines."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Siege Tower = "Hundreds of wagons are required to carry the pre-fabricated timbers that make up the siege tower, and when these are put together the siege tower will be raised higher than any known wall. Bolt throwers shoot out of port holes on each of its many levels. A drawbridge or spiked corvus is ready on the top of the tower to be dropped on the enemy battlements allowing attackers to swarm across, constantly reinforced by a steam stream of soldiers."

    Tong
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Warlock Mangonels = ”His heavy footsteps took him through the sky-striving blossoms of green fire, as the larger urns dropped and hit the ground. As he saw the lobbed urns fall before him, the templar was forced to skid and scramble in the opposite direction to evade a fiery death. Charging through the dying blaze of a short fallen urn, Archaon arrived before a pair of ramshackle mangonels, manned and manoeuvred by Tokmar slaves. Tong warlocks were overseeing the trajectory and loading of the weapon from a rhinox-hauled cart of prepared urns, protecting the fur tents of an encampment beyond. Archaon made short work of the brutalised mangonel crews and their vicious warlock overseers, thundering on through the cold and into the camp.”

    Special and Named Characters

Here is contained a full list of every possible Legendary Lord or Legendary Hero that I could find for the Northern Human Tribes, excluding those who are long dead. I have split them into different categories for each tribe and whether they suit being Lords or Heroes, so it is easier to know which they are best suited to being added to, if someone wished to add them to the game. Without further ado, here we go.

Any who fought the Dolgans had to battle with the terrain and weather against them, as well as the witch’s inbred army of lover-marauders roaring for their blood. Archaon did not require luck to win his battles.”
Archaon: Everchosen novel by Rob Sanders

Zharkol, Champion of Tzeentch = "In but a few moments the clear blue of the winter sky darkened. Menacing black clouds blotted out the rays of the dawn sun and the sound of thunder tremble through the hearts of the Kislevites. A great blast of forked lightning struck the highest tower of the fort, and silhouetted against the brief flash of light descended a figure of dread. The being wore long flowing robes, topped with a great horned helm. In one hand it held a huge shield adorned with a sorcerous image, in the other a sharp pointed lance engraved with fiery glowing runes. It was mounted on a large disc that shimmered with colourful magical energy."

Magical Weapons, Armour, Amulets, Scrolls and Other Items

This section deals in those magical items that can be used by this faction. This is by no means a full list, I doubt I'll ever get that, but it will provide modders with information if they wish to add new magical weapons, armour and items into the game to be used.

    Common Magic Items
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
If you follow the link below you will find dozens of magical items that are commonly found in the Old World (and beyond).

Holy Relic = "In this age of superstition and religious fanaticism, holy objects are important part of life. Relics abound in the Old World; hairs of Sigmar, pieces from Ulric's hammer, teeth of Daemon Princes, all are sold to men needing encouragement before battle and charms against sorcery."

    Hung Magic Items
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Smile of Sardiss = ”Zarnath smiled nervously, grateful for the change in subject. ‘The relic I require is a torc crafted from ruby. It is called the Smile of Sardiss, an ancient artefact of the Hung warlock-kings. For centuries it has fallen through the fingers of many owners, but for the last hundred years it has been worn by the dwarf lord Khorakk.’”

Lore Information Regarding the Northern Human Tribes

When a series is being continuously updated for a quarter of a century there is bound to be a massive amount of lore that has been created for it. This is an attempt to collate important snippets of lore that I have found during my research into units. I am presenting these in note form rather than in quote form due to the sheer amount of information that is potentially able to be displayed here, but I hope that it will prove useful or interesting to you regardless.

    General Information
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - Mammoths were once common creatures before the Slann brought the planet closer to the sun, warming the climate and driving back the frozen wastes.
    - Northmen hunt mammoths and present their tusks in tribute to ambassadors.
    - Northmen capture infant mammoths and raise them to serve them.

    - Only Chaos Sorcerers may have Chaos Armour

    Northern Tribes
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Dolgan
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - The Dolgan appear to be cannibalistic.
    - The Dolgan are also flayers. They will flay the skins of their enemies to create crude banners.
    - They were led by a War Chief called Darok, before he was overthrown by Gurkhan.
    - Gurkhan is a huge and brutal warrior, and is believed to be very old.
    - Gurkhan appears to have mutated heavily in his time, and has managed to bind many tribes together into a single huge force.
    - He has many limbs, some that end in pincers, others that carry swords.
    - They appear to be Tzeentch worshippers, at least they are under Gurkhan's influence.
