Guys, I've got some very bad news - my 3DS Max 2014 student version ran out and I can't buy the software since Autodesk don't sell it anymore. So, without it, I can't export any new assets I've made into cs2 files for BoB to convert anymore with CA's max exporter, therefore no new head / weapon / helmet / armour models. If I can't do what I want to do with the game anymore, then this might be the end. I'm so disappointed as I wanted the new things I've been working on for the Roman + upcoming Egyptian generals put into the game.

By the way, sorry for not replying sooner to the last two posts - I didn't know you could copy cells like that from Excel to PFM, and I didn't know of TotalCommander; looks like the exact kind of thing I needed.

Because the max exporter (used to convert models to "cs2" format for BoB to convert to "rigid_model_v2") used for Rome II only supports 3DS Max versions up to 2014.

This was just announced by CA - an Assembly Kit is being made for Thrones of Britannia. Like Attila, that game still uses the same "rigid_model_v2" file format for models, so can be transferred easily to Rome 2. So, hopefully that one includes a new max_exporter which is up to date with some of the latest, accessible versions!

I hope it works out! I really want you to overhaul each culture's generals in DEI now!

We need 30 unique greek, eastern and barbarian faces, no pressure...

So what do you need? A product key? Serial number? Or the software itself?

Updated the mod today, giving the generic Roman generals their "Old" heads for ages 50+, new Italic cloaks for ranks 3 - 4 and more.

    Change Log
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    ADDED

    • Added last 27 remaining generic Roman old head retextures - you can finally see all your Roman generals age over time.
    • Added Lepidus old head retexture along with white hair retexture for his 3D hair.
    • Added Polybian Roman politicians for ranks 8 - 10.
    • Added new "Wolf" helmet front plate (recycled from Varus' Lion TV model) for Marian / Imperial general helmets to further increase helmet front plate variation.
    • Added new "Roman_Hair_02" (Bandana) variant without the bandana, for politician variants.
    • Added Polybian Roman uniform art set designation to Wrath of Sparta campaign (for DeI, which features Rome as a faction in their "Macedonian Wars" campaign replacement).
    • Added a few placeholder hair assets for some generals (more hair will come in the next update - I don't want the Roman generals to be bald, unless they're old).

    REPLACED
    • Replaced the existing rank 3 - 4 cloak ("Lacerna") with an altered version of the new "Italic Cloak" (this asset is coming with the new Rise of the Republic DLC campaign asset library). This altered version of the cloak has been slightly edited by myself to allow for placement on vanilla armours without any clipping issues - the original version would clip through the chest due to the new armours in Rise of the Republic being shorter.
    • Replaced the black shoulder + bottom stripes ("Pteryges") with white ones. In my opinion, they look much better and more closely resemble the artistic depictions of Roman legates than the previous black ones.

    REMOVED
    • Removed the existing placeholder beardless barbarian heads. Gave the Roman generals who used beardless barbarian heads the Roman heads from Attila instead.
    • Removed the placeholder head from Thrones of Britannia for the young version of Rom_General_32. Gave one of the beardless barbarian heads as a better placeholder (for now).

    FIXED
    • Fixed texture bug with the old age variant of Pompey's head.
    • Fixed Roman Cuirass' texture; the white sash parts were supposed to be a burgandy colour.

    Images

Another AAA Generals mod is coming for the Rise of the Republic campaign DLC upon its release day on 9th August, which will be (at first) featuring the early-Romans and Etruscans. This has been made in co-operation with Magas of Cyrene, who is also helping with the concepts for the future faction's generals (Egyptians, Carthaginians etc) as well! A new thread will be opened for that one once it's released.

Also, I've just released two submods for this mod. Since there were people who wanted to have entirely Polybian or Marian / Imperial uniforms for the Grand Campaign and swap them whenever they wanted (e.g. after researching the "Marian Reforms" technology, swap Polybian-only for Marian-only), I made two simple submods that forced either appearance when enabled along with this mod. Completely save-game compatible, they can be enabled / disabled whenever you want. Of course, they require the original mod enabled to work.

So I guess this is now a series of mods - the Rise of the Republic part has been released on the Steam Workshop! Currently posting up a separate link for TWC (and for the two submods) - will edit the posts accordingly.

It might now be a good idea for me to apply for "Hosted" status so we can have more discussions about the other faction's / culture's general appearances etc rather than dedicating it all to one discussion. The team is growing as well - Magas of Cyrene is helping with reference / research + VMD creation.
