866 AD
This year, in 866 AD...
A new Viking King is crowned in what is modern day Suffolk. The Viking leader, Viggo Ragnarson, has captured the East Anglian royal capital of Rendlesham and established a new kingdom in this region.
The East Anglian King, Edmund, has fled northward towards Norwich after his major defeats. It is unknown what his plans are to recover the southern portions of his holdings.
Wessex remains quiet towards the Viking presence in East Anglia, but there are murmurs coming across the Mercian border. It is unknown what their designs are however.
In the North, the Great Heathen Army has been halted by the Northumbrians at a major battle outside of Deira.
