Someone offered to take Anthony already which leaves only Dacia and Lepidus open (if Dawn doesn't return). Lepidus could be taken over by Pompey and Jadli could take over Dacia as its situation could be reversed.

That being said the hotseat is long from over and there are still a lot things left to be done.

Currently we have 2 open factions, Dacia and Lepidus (it seems Dawn left for good) so you guys are free to take them.

    Pompey - http://www.mediafire.com/file/0uvi92...pey_9.sav/file

The legions of Caesar push forward into Sicily taking the remaining towns in the south left in Pompeian occupation. Further more, by order of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, admiral of the Roman Navy and commander of the Sicilian expedition has ordered the construction of a grand fleet in all the ports of Italy. Rome has awaken!

The legate Amulius Oppius walked the battlements in his full armour , on the walls of the small town of Byzantium, saluted by members of the town watch , and he nodded to each , barely taking note of each guards features, in the dimness of the torch light against the dark of the night. The Thracian hordes had descended last season upon his town , but the barbarians didn't seem keen to get too close for fear of the missiles being thrown from the walls . But this night , a nervous inch had made him walk the walls, and fear was felt in every shadow, and worried guards talked in mummurs. The worry was made much worse, by the sea fog which rolled in from the coast , obscuring the barbarians camp, apart from the odd fire which could be made out to be a redish fog area in the distance.

Suddenly there was some of the guttural outbursts and war cries from the savages, and he moved closer to the wall to see if anything was nearby but the fog obscured all view and asked he asked the nearby town militiaman , Tertius to walk to rouse the rest of the garrison. The garrison station at Byzantium used to be quite substantial to resist movements of the barbarian peoples across the river danube, but the last civil war with Caesar and Pompey, had called upon all of the famed legions which had yet to be replaced, leaving him with town militia forces and one company of hastati, which he kept in reserve as his best troops.

More warcries sounded out in the night , and he like others on the wall , looked over in the darkness , seeing nothing in the gloom , when a javelin appeared , reflected off the lights of the torches as it appeared in the one of the wall defenders chest, pinning him against the wooden floorboards in a gruesome pose like some-sort of collection piece. Shouts of alarm and organisation sounded out in latin , as the garrison came to full readiness and the legate checked the defences of the wall were ready .

Two rams made out of rough tree trucks were slammed into the wooden rampants of the town, and surprised at the sudden assault , the town militia started to collect at the points of contention , throwing down javelins and firing short bows, felling various holders of the rough rams, but other barbarians came out of the mist to take there places at the rams. Unfortunately the pulling of people from one area of the wall to this problem area ,allowed the silent move of a ladder at another area to the west of the town, where those troops were observing the struggle of there comrades at the other end of the town, and little noticed the light footed barbarians silently climbing the wall and collecting their strength. Stealthily the thracians took out the wall defenders on the western wall, whilst the romans were resisting the rams attempt to break the walls in the north, as more and more barbarians climbed to support this narrow margin of attack , until sufficient forces, suddenly broke in the town from the west causing confusion , as screams and fire emitted from within the town. The legate turned and saw the new threat, ordering the hastati, to shore up this weakness in his defences , comfortable they would plug the gap.

Hastati troops jogged into formation and the youngsters fell into there ranks[although receiving full drill] and moved towards the point of contention where the thracians were already waiting for them , howling and screaming there hatred , at the base of the taken western wall section as yet more and more thracians climbed onto the wall, with the more heavier falx swordsmen , rushing towards them .

A few of Falx swordsmen reached the line of the legionnaire's already pulling back there massive blades back to strike, and when they got close, they cleaved men shear in half when there blades decended, cutting severe gaps into the roman formation, as the two sides moved against each into a massive sea of men in close combat. In this type of close combat , the legions thrived and hastati held there own as the Thracian great blades were of little use .

Calls rang out around the settlement as the thracians took more and more of the surrounding precious walls hurling town mitlia into the town from the heights, and furthermore bringing archers on the higher positions , only to rang down arrows on the town militia who desperately ran around, trying to form up into large companies. Fire arrows likewise rained down , like Vulcan had descended himself , in giant scatterings of flame like rain, lighting buildings on fire , which also add to the confusion of the night, as thracians in ever greater numbers surged around the town , killing where they could , and burning what they couldn't . Soon the great gates of the town creeked open, only to let in even more thracians , and the legate, knew the town was lost , as he deflected yet another strike from a Thracian spear with his gladius , his years of training long in the past, his stamina was deserting him , and he regretted not keeping up his training, of his youth. Finally the legate was surrounded on the wall , all of his bodyguard overwhelmed and he was hacked to pieces from the tribesmen who surrounded him . A few moments later, the Thracian warlord who had entered via the main gate, with his own bodyguard gave a hearty cry of victory, to which all nearby thracians eagerly repeated , as the fires of the town burned around them , and the smell of smoke blew westwards in the night air.

    -------------------------------

Roman ships at the port of Byzantium seeing the barbarian victory at the town ,with smoke and fire rolling out from their headquarters, upped the anchors and moved there fleet into the main channel of the straits , only to find themselves running in a Thracian fleet in the dark , where they were waiting upon such a opportunity. Attacked in the night and as the Thracian fleet rowed towards them out of the mist , they faced overwhelming odds, as the giant thracian fleet , rammed most of there unprepared vessels, sending what was left of the Byzantium roman fleet to the bottom of the sea.

The remaining legions of the loyal senators of Rome are now trapped in Greece and are continuing to retreat to the coast. The end is approaching...

The rebellion in Greece has been firmly squached, with their last remaining stronghold now under siege. Let this be a lesson to all that would defy Marcus Antonius...
