Secundus Musa Finally arrived on the island of Sicily after making his way from the capital to Hispania and then finally to Sicily. Finally making his way to a villa that was in the city proper. He quickly had the villa made to his liking before getting to work on what he needed to do. Being a Vicar he was was in charge of making sure all of his soldiers under his command got paid. It was why he called the Questers to meet him at the vila, He also made sure to call the Judges as well as a Bishop and censors They were all told to meet in the main room of his vila where a chair was set up and his personal guards stood next to him.
" Greetings As you have heard we have a new Emperor of Roman Empire. With that, he has appointed me as Vicar of Sicily a position that I have accepted gladly as this were i have grown up all my life so it is fitting that I have been appointed as vicar of Sicily. But anyway I have gathered you all here first for a meeting because it is important that this province runs smoothly. The first order of business is that I wish to have a report about the current state of the province of Sicily. I expect that report to come from my Princeps " He said in a Reserve tone as he looked around the room before speaking again.
" The Second order of business is about a construction of a Chruch in the city of Palemo. Numerarii I wish to have an estimate of how much it will cost us " He said as he looked in the room at the Christians under his leadership. He had made sure to only appoint Christians to positions. But he did not care if they are Nicean or Arian at this moment. He only cared about running a effective government at this moment in time.
" Under my Leadership, this province will prosper, Lets us pray for Sicily and the Roman empire !" He said in a Reserve tone as he did the cross and folded his arms as he waited for the reports from those in the room.
One of Musa's Princeps stepped forth, having recently spoken with a local dignitary.
"Vir spectabilis, the province of Sicilia has a long history tied to the former Greek colonies. Latin is preferred among the local landlords while the common man along the coast prefers Greek, though many speak both. The island is also seen as a bastion of the Christian faith, led by the Bishop of Syracuse, and few other gods are worshiped here. Other than that, Sicilia is a peaceful province famed for its abundant yields that feed the rest of the Roman Empire. The occasional pirate can be found, but no major threats since the Punic Wars."
The Princeps bowed as the bishop in the room stepped forth.
"Vir spectabilis, it pleases the Lord greatly that you wish to construct a house for His children. Usually, a church of decent size can cost anywhere between 20,000 and 40,000 solidii, depending on materials, construction time, decorations and other factors."
Secundus Musa Nodded at the Princeps report “ Thank you for the report Princeps. Seeing that this island still has a few pagan worshipers I believe we should deal with them. I will not allow pagans to live on this island.. They need to be converted to the true faith either by force or by their own will. This island will not face the wrath of god due to pagans living freely on it. But we can deal with that issue later. Since we are living in peaceful times and the Emperor has not Decreed a tax rate just yet. I do believe we should have the tax rate be Medium for now do you agree ?” He did not let the man know why it would be medium and that he had plans for the money
He turned his attention to the bishop “ Thank you for your report as well. I do believe that we need to build a house for the children of god on this island. It is important that we show God how much we are thankful for his just and merciful rule. For granting us a Christian emperor to rule over the empire. I shall build a church to God on the island. As for all the decorations there will be hardly any in this church besides the bare minimum. I want you to ask the people to donate to this cause in the churches already on the island. Do you understand bishop ?“
The Princeps thought for a moment before nodding.
"As you wish, spectabilis, I will inform the publicans of your decree."
He took his leave while the bishop spoke.
"Very well. My brothers shall spread the word among the faithful. Await my messenger when the money has been raised."
Another dignitary stepped forth, scribbling down all that was said.
"Is there anything else you, vir spectabilis?"

On the eve of the new year, a messenger arrives in a carriage, followed by armed guards carrying several chests. He delivers a note from the bishop, informing the vicar that the faithful of Sicily has scrapped together 18,000 solidii for the construction of a new church. Whether this is enough or not is up for Secundus to decide.
Secundus Was pleased when his guards informed him of the money from the Faithful of Sicily. The next day he held a meeting at his villa with his Princeps. " With the money from the Faithful I have decided that we will build the new Chruch on the grounds of a pagan temple in the city. The Pagan temple is no longer being used and it will be a perfect place to build a church to honor God. Have the old temple destroyed and the new church built on it. I will put 10,000 Solidii towards the construction of the new church "He said in a reserved voice. He was pleased that the faithful wanted him to build a chruch and he was going to honor them by building one. is this understood Princeps
Later in the meeting, he asked a message to go and find the bishop to invite him to the villa so that they can have a talk. He wanted to thank the bishop for working on his behalf and that the new church will be built like promised. Hopefully, the bishop was not too busy and would come as soon as he was able too.
