    This post comes with both sadness and excitement. It seems my last 6 months of work has been somewhat for nothing as CA just announced the next title in the total war series will be the three kingdoms.. thus making my mod obsolete. Further development of my mod is no longer likely, but good news for all of you is that I will still release the current beta project we are in.

    Heres a quick overview of what ROTK v2.0 is all about:


    I started this project because I was always quite disappointed in Koei/omega forces ROTK/Dynasty warriors franchise. ROTK has the most boring battle system and Dynasty warriors has no economic side, with the battle mechanics getting easier and easier. Thus I found Shogun2 and felt it offered a great middle ground. A few years back I made ROTK v1.0 porting a custom Lu Bu model in, then deciding to go all out and turn Shimazu into Shu, Hojo Into Wei Etc. As you may know this mod was fun, BUT the dream of having the whole map converted to China felt out of reach. Finally in the middle of summer of 2017 I decided to return and try to accomplish this.
    With the help of Uanime5 I was able to make the map. From there on I managed to port in many Chinese units, re balance the economy and add some pretty unique features. The last 6 months I spent every day working on this project and this is as far as I got. Me and my RL friend were half way through our first multiplayer campaign and bugg testing when CA dropped the news of Total War: Three Kingdoms.
    I can't stress enough how many more features were still on the list to be added, things like, a unique Trait and anc system that would have reflected stats from ROTK (such as LEA, WAR, INT, GOV), custom animations, custom siege weapons, custom LUA scripting to recreate how generals frequently defected/ other historical events, new building models, the list goes on....




    Anyway,
    Here's how far we got:

    So this Mod is sort of in a fantasy period of the Three Kingdoms Era. Unlike ROTK where you can pick multiple time periods to begin your campaign, Shogun doesnt have this. In order to try to incorporate all the main factions I was forced to use a bit of imagination. Otherwise If we started after Lu Bu kills Dong Zhou we wouldnt have Dong Zhou, or Yellow turbans. In addition other challenges were characters Like Sun Jian dying early, diplomatic stances changing so frequently, officers changing sides and factions like Shu moving around constantly. If something isnt 100% historically accurate dont freak out, I did my best to fit everyone in best I could.
    Since in History this era began with much turmoil due to famine and rebellions, Most factions start with very high unrest demands. In addition to this the non major clans like bandits will suffer from rebellions asap and be over taken thus replicating the yellow turban rebellions (as Ikko Ikko has a chance to gain control of rebel stacks) and helps to set the stage for which provinces were not under control early on.
    The main Factions will ally during this time and you will work together to irradicate the bandits and rebels.
    I wanted to really add some difficulty and thought to the economic portion of Shogun2, I felt ROTK town development was a bit deeper, this is quite apparent early game.
    I made many buildings require region resources, and units require key buildings to add to the strategy.
    The main Factions develop and soon find their units can defeat the bandit units.
    Mid game after a few tech research and building management, you find keeping your towns happy much easier.
    There are 6 different religions - this adds to the economic difficulty.

    Custom Buildings

    This building system has alot going on and is challenging to find the best way to show/explain it. This will be very brief and sloppy for now

    What I will do is include a image of the new starting levels and try to explain how the branch out in order from the image

    1) Settlements
    First things first there is a Fork in the main settlement chain
    It goes
    Farming town 1 ---> farming village ---> Farming stronghold
    OR
    Farming town 1 ---> Fort ---> etc

    Where as the farming village has a bonus to farm GDP and access to a unique farm upgrade
    The second is the main town chain and will have access to town unique buildings and much better defenses

    2) Market
    -- now adds town growth, later on happiness, later on forks into different resources like producing gems. No food penalty

    3) Generals office
    -- Can recruit generals

    4) Stable
    --- Required warhorses region resource to upgrade

    5)Farming upgrade
    ---only in farming chain, provides food and income, later on branches onto many options like produce silk, horses etc. During beta test realized this needs a nerf later on in the chain if i ever update this

    6) Merc camp
    -- lowers happiness locally, but allows to recruit strong mercenary units that are cheap to recruit but costly to upkeep

    7) Religion chain
    ---No monk thats else where now

    8) Feast hall
    -- Raises officer loyalty (global becuz I couldnt get local to work)

    9) Barracks
    --Main bulk of units here, costs food and lowers town growth to replicate needing to use pop to train soldiers

    10) Public Water
    --- A happiness chain

    11)BlackSmith
    -- Now buildable anywhere as long as you have access to iron (or copper? i forget which)
    -- needed later on for better troop recruitment

    12) Diplomat office
    -- This was still a work in progress, it raises diplomatic relations and is currently the location for a ninja

    13) Archery Range
    --- Same as barracks but also adds a garrison effect

    14) Admin Office
    -- requires silk, can recruit metsuke, raises tax rate in local province

    15) Encampment
    --Similar to vanilla but allows some unique units to be recruited here


    16) Garrison (defense)
    -- adds a garrison effect, costs food, but adds repression and siege defense length time

    17) School
    --- Now build able anywhere , Forks into a strategist platform which is where monks are now, and is a placeholder for something else i was working on

    18ish) Also there are 4 gates on the map, these are a custom battlefield and settlement with only 1 slot. Gates cost food but provide large repression and a strong garrison.

    Custom Campaign Siege Battle Maps

    7 New custom Battle maps were added to the campaign and all evolve as in Vanilla.
    A feature to keep in mind Is I added the non-wall settlements theme from ROTS for the base level 1 farming town and lvl 2 farming village .
    Something I wanted to incorporate was more of a theme that people actually lived in/around these towns etc, this means more houses and details.

    I have to give a huge shout out to Engineer Weierstrass as I used and edited many of his maps, and he taught me everything I know about using TED.
    His maps were meant to hold as a placeholder till I made more of my own. TED is a huge pain in the ass though and making maps is a very tedious process .

    Honest to god there are so many changes in this mod its gonna take some serious thinking to remember all of them, Some off the top of my head:


    New sound track - taken from Kessen and ROTK 7-12. (The kessen sound track mod I recommended to go with with my ROTK 1 mod was huge help. You can find that back in the original post)

    New-ish /edited Load screens


    Unit Balances, different battle entities for many troops as far as walk, run and charge speed based on armor/shield weight.


    Different campaign variables such as Higher zone of controls, reinforcement radius, loyalty defection chances, research point caps for characters


    Unique diplomacy changes


    Nerf to minor clans


    Decrease A.I cheats in terms of spawning cheat armies, and free upgrades


    Edited Major clan personalities

    In order to get this mod to work involves replacing your vanilla data.pack file,
    THIS WILL BREAK YOUR ABILITY TO PLAY OTHER MODS OR VANILLA, PLEASE MAKE A BACK UP OF YOUR DATA.PACK BEFORE REPLACING IT

    Simply place the downloaded "data.pack" and "ROTKV2Beta.pack" Into your Shogun2 data folder
    (commonly found at programfiles/steam/steamapps/common/Total War Shogun2)
    Then Launch the game and select "ROTKV2Beta.pack" in the mod manager

    Thanks...! Cant really change it though... they are making the game that is 100% this mod..... And this is my favorite era.. I could maybe pass the Tweak DB files to someone else who would want to do Ming dynasty or different era mod.... idk

    Hi dear creators! great mod, map is really good, Im currently working on a mod for rise of Qin for Medieval 2 & I almost want to transfer that to Shogun 2 which have better performance & graphic & game play than Medieval, so it is possible to give me your working files of map?? because your map is China & i should create the map of China but if you give me the files Im not forced to create a new map again!

    Good credit will be wrote surely.

    Great work Havie! Don't give up your mod. I am sure it will be much better than CA's new game. Most of time, mods are always better.

    I have been extremely busy these last few months and havent found the time to update and add really much at all to this mod.
    I have made a few changes, but not enough.
    Regardless, I shouldn't make you guys wait any longer to play as I get messages daily.

    thank, but i can not start game, when creating new campaign will be stopped at load campaign screen. I have done as instructed, please help me. thanks

    I played a bit, it's a shame you cannot continue, as it feels almost done, just a few things remaining to polish so it doesn't look so beta but all the main things are there. At least that's what it plays like, I imagine it's a lot of work. Thanks for sharing, this is more interesting to me than CA releasing ROTK. Do you think you'll add some more things or this is the final release?

    umm,
    #1 make sure you over wrote your vanilla data.pack and arent running any other mods or edited files, using english language would possibly help.
    #2 try a fresh install of S2 then re-add the modded files

    It is uncertain at this time. i'd say 80% chance this is final, although If I learn LUA commands Id probably take the time to add scripting events.

    Hi Havie, great appreciate for your fantastic mod. I knew you still have many ideas to develop this mod to get the real feel of three kingdoms. Could you please suggest any ideas to make the historical general live more longer on campaign? They die like flies and that the only thing i don't want to see.

    The only thing I managed to do for this is I made a few generals invincible so they always return after dying in battle..
    Some of them are:

    Lu Bu
    Zhang Liao
    Xu Haung ?
    Xiahou Dun?
    Guan yu
    Zhang fei
    Ma Chao
    Zhao Yun (gongsun)
    Zhang He
    Lu Meng

    and maybe some others.
    I know it is frustrating. I also looked everywhere to boost the general wounded in battle chance over dying but i cant find it anywhere in the files

    hi...i love to play your mod. i have a problem with the german version... . The Factions Names are all original...I see by other Mods thats allways a problem....can you help me? I have steam the german version of the game.

    Yeah, as Sara said you need to change the language to english,
    As Ive only modified the eng files.

    I am also not going to take the time to translate other languages into this mod... the name editing process is extremely slow and tedious, especially if i were to do a language that i barely know. You or anyone else is welcome to do so though.
