For everyone who hates the Pope:

I learned this on my own and some of you guys probably already know this. But if you go to Papal states and offer them alliance, the pope falls in love with your faction. Then during the same turn, give them a map (The Pope doesn't get around much) So he will be even more delighted to raise your faction to be the top Holy faction in the first 10 turns.

All you have to do is give them something every 20 turns because the crosses drops every once and a while. And if one of your enemies gets excommunacted. You can call a crusade against them with no problem since your the Pope's best friend.

Problem with this is that the Pope dies too many times but i offered the new Popes 100 florines for 10 turns and he raised me to the top from 4 crosses.
And thats not alot if your a rich faction

yes and give him a settlement like Jerusalem or Antichia, he raise you down from the top, up to only 2 crosses ............................

Really? I've always given the pope these settlements because I really cannot control them, I don't mind holding the Castles in the area, but anything else is uncontrollable.

Maybe it's because when you give him settlement your armies are still in that area and you haven't negotiated military access?

No, press the = , the one just left of the backspace key.

- and + on the numpad affect camera orientation, as well as the numbers.

At least in the TW style setup, which I don't normally use, but am now, because I'm playing in windowed mode.

Yup, that's how I found it out, because since I usually don't use the TW setup, I hit F1 to find the key values. And there it was.

I know it's obviously the wrong place but since we're on the topic and all, anybody happen to know if there is a RTW key for this? would make phalanx fighting much more efficient lol

What do you mean by this?

By phalanx do you mean it will just make your ranks straight and organised?

What it does is increase or decrease the number of rows.

This is useful in those crummy places such as in between trees etc where it won't let you draw your unit on the map, or streets.

Well actually, the =/- keys are used to spread out/make narrower your unit. This is also present in RTW, for I used to use it, it mainly helps when you want to reshape your unit slightly (ex 2x30 or 4x15) without holding down the right mouse key. I've never found that much use for it.

For the people who want to use this in the phalanx formation in RTW, just press "f" to exit the unit out of phalanx mode, then it will work, just be sure to press "f" again after you're done to return the unit to phalanx mode. (or you could just press the phalanx button with your mouse) Basically the unit has to be outside phalanx mode in order for the -/= trick to work on those kinds of units.
