    Penelope Scarrow

    Curses: 130
    Hexes: 75
    Charms: 75

Penelope is the product of a pureblood family, her heritage stretching back all the way to the 11th century. Her lineage includes several high serving members of the Ministry of Magic and other prominent witches and wizards famous for deeds accomplished. As of late, the Scarrow family had passed into obscurity and disunity. Several of the lesser accomplished Scarrows found the promises of Lord Voldemort rather enticing. They had become his Death Eaters, some of them. Others, such as Penelope, resisted. The situation resembled that of the Black family. Penelope's father, Cornelius Scarrow, was tragically killed while she was attending school when a accident containing a dragon spiraled out of control. A widow now, Penelope's mother, Margaret, entered a state of sadness so deep she was rendered almost useless in every regard. Her recovery has been slow, but she remains and ever-melancholic presence in her daughter's life.

Hogwarts Class of 1959. Penelope was originally sorted into Ravenclaw House when she entered Hogwarts in 1951. While she showed a propensity for spells early in her academic career, her speciality in curses left many of her colleagues wondering whether or not she would have been better served in Slytherin. Her natural intelligence quickly led to her proficiency in other subjects, but she shined in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Unlike may who excelled in that class, she was truly driven by her hate of the Dark Arts. Her father having been maimed in the wars started by Grindewald, she had a strong prejudice against dark wizards and witches. After her graduation from Hogwarts and the passage of the appropriate OWLS and NEWTs, she was accepted based upon her application for the Office of the Aurors. At first she was expected not to take part in risky operations; she spent the majority of her time researching cases, spells, or legal precedents. As legal ramifications fell by the wayside and as her department grew more concerned, she was cast into the front lines. It was a role she found completely acceptable.

    Personal Life

During her time at Hogwarts, Penelope was a member of many academic societies and clubs, but she did not limit herself to academics. She knew, given her chosen career choice, that she must develop the body as well as the mind. She engaged in some athletic pursuits, playing Chaser for her House in quidditch and while she gained no great renown as a player, performed just as well as anyone else. Where she really stuck out was in the Dueling Club. To the extent that they were permitted to use curses against one another in a duel, Penelope often triumphed. She was the winner of several school-wide tournaments and several ribbons adorned her small space in the Ravenclaw Tower near her bed. All of these learned skillswould be useful to her later on in life.

After she went to work for the ministry she met and fell in love with a man several years her senior, Daniel Scrubs, a man whose parents were muggles. It was a scandal within her family, with some of them offering support but many regard her as somehow betraying the old family traditions of marrying only those with the proper lineage. She disregarded these nay sayers and stated her life with Daniel. Everything changed in 1970 with the rise of he who must not be named. Daniel had been working in the Department of Mysteries when he became privvy to a very interesting prophecy. Voldemort had been operating for only a few months, and his initial wave of attacks were underway. After he had recorded and stored the prophecy regarding some who were not yet even born and a certain dark wizard who seemed as of yet assured of no victory, he was visited by some masked Death Eaters. He refused to hand over the prophecy, as per the dark lord's wishes. Daniel, who was a man of high intelligence but low self defense skills, was no match for the assassins. He was discovered in his office, within the ministry itself, horribly murdered. The murder of her husband strengthened Penelope's resolve.

    Glenn Richards

    Charms: 120
    Hexes: 85
    Curses: 45

Glenn comes from a mixed family: a muggle U.S. Air Force colonel and a Ilvermorny-trained witch mother. His mother's side of the family traced their descent to Morgan le Fay, some members taking great pride in this connection. The year before he was born, his father had been assigned to Britain at the onset of U.S. participation in the second World War, and his mother moved along with him. Primarily because of Glenn's birth, they made the decision to remain in Britain and raise him there where he had started growing up. When he turned eleven, the Hogwarts invitation arrived, startling him, and forcing his parents to reluctantly fill him in on his mother's family history.

For the beginning of his time at Hogwarts, Glenn was an unexceptional student, mediocre quidditch player, and generally forgettable individual. Assigned to Hufflepuff, he found some enjoyment in herbology, and amusement in mastering charms, and as the years went by he did begin to find a home among some of his peers. His only distinguishing feature for most of his Hogwarts career was a rather bizarre hybrid American-British accent that he spoke with. He spent his time primarily focused on what he perceived as more docile forms of magic, intentionally or subconsciously avoiding things which reminded him of his father and his strict, militaristic manner. He passed the OWLs with his typical lack of distinction, not scraping by, but not excelling either. However, the following year, with a new batch of first-years came an exceptional Keeper who was sorted into Hufflepuff, and put an end to Glenn's own quidditch career. With his main source of enjoyment taken away, Glenn became moody initially, but after a trip home resulted in a particularly severe row with his father, he returned to school angry, determined to prove himself and scored very impressively on his NEWTs.

After graduating, Glenn faded into obscurity for a while, tending a small herb shop in Hogsmeade, content to remain a part of the wizarding community, but not play any central role. However, when Voldemort rose to power, some of his family's le Fay bloodlines prompted them to side with the Dark Lord, causing a split in the family that ended with an aunt killing his mother. A hurried return home, and a reconnection with his father, along with a vow to find justice for his mother sent Glenn to the Ministry of Magic, despite his hesitation to fight. His old NEWT scores, dug up from some record, along with his exceptional charm abilities and competent hexing skills made up for a lack of curse potency, and he was allowed to join the ranks of the aurors. Higher-ups began to drop rapidly to the ever-growing numbers of Death Eaters, pushing Glenn closer and closer to the front lines. Direct confrontation with the Dark Lord's forces now seems inevitable for Glenn, and with thoughts of his betrayed mother on one hand, and his own passive nature on the other vying for control, he is not quite sure how to feel.

    Mathis Hayes

    Hex: 145
    Curse: 95
    Charms: 55

Mathis was not from a notable wizard family or even a wizard family at all. Born to a family of muggles he knew nothing of his abilities until the day he received his letter for Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Upon arrival Mathis was sorted into Griffendor house. He quickly showed an affinity for Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration. Mathis was a sociable fellow making friends easily and his teachers generally saw him as an exceptional student.

In his fifth year there was some controversy when he began dating the pureblood Slythrine Dalia Blackbourne. Dalia came from a line of old blood wizards and her elder brother Tristan discovering the romance had led to the Seventh year challenging Mathis to a duel saying that “a dirty mudblood” would never be allowed to touch his sister. Mathis lost the duel and spent some time in the hospital wing as a result, and Dalia never talked to him again for fear of what her brother would do.

Despite this set back Mathis passed both his OWLS and NEWTS with high marks and enlisted in the order of Aurors some believe that his career choice was due to the rumors of a group of Wizard supremist beginning to rise.

    Edmund Fawley

    Curse/Potions Adept: 130 Points
    Charms/Herbology Adept: 60 Points
    Hex Adept: 80 Points

Edmund comes from a long established wizard family, one that is of Noble and Most Ancient standing, and of the sacred 28. He has been raised to respect wizarding tradition and trained from an early age to one day take up his father’s duties as Lord of the House. From an early age he displayed an aptitude for magic, and a sharp mind for learning. Going on to outpace his tutors curriculum, eventually being allowed to pursue his own interests. He has an inner drive to succeed and will try to push himself as far as it takes to accomplish this, sometimes to his detriment. He also holds an innate curiosity for new things, and likes to experiment, and test ideas. While this has proven beneficial for his education, it can also prove dangerous, as he likes to push things to their limits. He is stubborn in the face of opposition and steadfast in his beliefs. He holds his friendships dearly, and is not one to easily forgive betrayal. He has a strong relationship with his father and seeks his approval, which may explain his determined nature.

His family has a storied history, some stories have them coming over with the Romans, but the official family records only go as far back as the Norman Conquest. It is a house that is both Noble and Most Ancient, with wizards of renown both light and dark. In more recent times Hector Fawley; Edmund's father had served as Minister of Magic from 1925-1939 before being forced out as a response from an enraged public over the rise of Grindelwald. While this had taken a toll on the man, it had not broken his spirit. Choosing to remain with the ministry in the upcoming fight, he would go on to take a post as head of the Auror Department, a position he would hold until the end of the war. Upon the wars conclusion he would settle into semi-retirement, choosing to spend the time with his family, while still maintaining his seat in the Wizengamot.

    Hector Fawley Circa 1935

Edmunds childhood was a good one, having been raised in peace he could enjoy socializing with friends, engaging in his studies, or just relaxing in the manor. Upon reaching the age of 11 it was no surprise when he received his Hogwarts letter, and he was well prepared for the next step in his magical education. He would go on to be sorted into Ravenclaw, which suited him nicely. The hat had almost sent him to Huffelpuff until he had argued against it, citing that while he valued loyalty and friendship it was not without benefit for himself. His next few years would be uneventful, though not ill spent. For over this time his magical ability flourished, especially in the more practical subjects. Edmund would display a strong aptitude for potions and defense against the dark arts. When it came time to take his O.W.L.s he would have no trouble passing them.

A young Edmund Fawley 5th year

It was around his sixth year that his attentions were drawn away from his own interests and studies, and unto a young witch. What started as a crush would grow into an infatuation, and eventually into a budding romance. This love interest to a young witch of the name Ramilda Doge, would have lasting impact upon Edmund. For it was through her that he was finally able to come out of his shell and to experience parts of the wizarding world he had been blind to before. Ramilda was a half blood, and it was by seeing her persecution by elitist pure-bloods that his world view changed. He no longer wanted to stand by and observe the world, but to change it.

Over his last couple years he would move with a determined vigor to develop himself and his magic, as well as to strategically build his network of friends and allies for when he would enter the political stage. When the time came to take his N.E.W.T.s he would surpass even his own expectations, clearing 5 O’s and 2 E’s. Such achievement would prompt him to seek an apprenticeship in potions following graduation; a pursuit that he would be successful in achieving, finding a spot under the aged potions master Barnabus Burke.

Another thing that would happen upon graduation is Edmunds marriage to Ramilda; an arrangement that that was finally possible by his father’s consent. Over the next few years he would progress through his apprenticeship swiftly, obtaining a license in 4 years for what typically took 5 to 6. His marriage would also develop nicely, though attempts to father a child had proved difficult. At 25 he would finally prove successful, though happiness would soon turn to heartbreak when it proved to be stillborn. This would weigh heavily upon Edmund and even more so upon Ramilda who slipped into a deep depression. Further tragedy would strike when Edmunds former potions master turned partner died in a freak brewing accident due to faulty ingredients.

With things going from bad to worse, Edmund decided that his life needed a change, and so over the course of a few weeks he relocated his wife and household to London where he applied for the Auror Corps. He was gladly accepted, though in a teaching role opposed to a field one. This change would prove to be a good one, and he would eventually even prove successful in fathering a child; a boy that he would name Thomas.

    Edmund Fawley Circa 1970

Things would not remain peaceful however, for around this time dark forces began to emerge, and the ministry was faced with the threat of another Dark Lord. Forces were mustered and actions were taken, what started as a series of attacks was gearing up to be a full out war. Each day more wizards would fall in the conflict; many of whom Edmund knew or had trained. Each day more lives were affected by the conflict, and there seemed to be no end in sight. As more good men fell, Edmund became more adamant to take a greater role in the fight, and relished the day when he could use his skill and ability in the field.

Robert is born of pure-blood, his linage dates back to the dark ages and is one of the sacred 28. As a student Robert was bright and he finished top in his year, his aspirations to become a Hogwarts Professor pushed him to practice and study for his OWLs and his NEWTs. Selma Kunstler
    born 1942.

Selma Kunstler was born to a mixed family: muggle father and witch mother. She was taught the basics of magic by her mother, but her real instruction only came when she joined Hogwarts at the age of 11. She was sorted into Ravenclaw, which was not surprising: Selma had strong intellectual interests and enjoyed reading and producing poetry. She had a hard time adapting at Hogwarts and missed her family a great deal; she considered leaving the school after her first year, but was forced by her mother to stay. She never really adapted and continued to struggle socially but excelled as a student: especially in curses and charms.
In spite of being a social outcast, she did join Hogwart's Literature and Poetry Club, where she developed quite a reputation as a poetess.

Her impressive OWL and NEWTs results managed to land her a successful application to join the Aurors, much to the pride of her family, but to Selma's indiference. She was assigned to frontline duty and years passed without much happening, until something did. In the early years of Dark Lord's rise, Selma was involved in an incident involving several injured muggles. She was severely punished and almost faced the sack; but in the end she was just demoted to deskwork duties. That was until the escalation of the conflict: needing every able wizard, Bartemius Crouch Sr. assigned back to frontline duties.
Selma continues to struggle with the traumatic consequences of the incident and is not quite sure how this reassignment will work.
