Default BP Lite - A wizarding adventure

I'm looking for 1-2 people to play a dungeons and dragons style BP game. It may be a single thread game, haven't spoken much about specifics yet. The rules would be loosely based on this, but in five years time I've probably thought of some ways to de-clunkify some of the duel issues so we'll take it as it comes. The whole point of the game would be a microcosm, like a single adventure or a series of adventures. To give one example of how I imagine it running, we could be aurors/order of phoenix during the first Voldemort war or something like that. I'd add lots more structure to the story of course.

This is going to run way more like a collaborative creative writing project than one of our normal games, likely played in chapters. Therefore we'll need good backstory. I think the first thing we'll all need to decide as a group is when we start. That decision has two parts: what actual time period in the universe as well as how old our characters will be. After we do that we can beginning planning the outline of the conflict/adventure

A group of Aurors hunting death eaters during one of the rises of Voldemort works.

I think that's one of our best options

My personal vote would be for the first rise since it seems like it would give us a little more freedom since the whole second one is pretty thoroughly detailed in the novels.

Alternately maybe aurors some time after the fall of Voldemort trying to round up the remaining Death Eaters would work

I think first rise is the best option, from start to finish. It's basically a war zone the entire time, we'll never really run out of material to pull from either but it leaves things open to creativity. I'll write up a synopsis in a few hours and post it.

The year is 1971. Lord Voldemort, and his followers, are terrorizing England and started what would become known as the First Wizarding War. The first months of the conflict have been particularly bloody, with witches and wizards quickly taking sides. Voldemort’s fanatical followers will stop at nothing to achieve their goals: dominion, status, and the subjugation of muggles and lesser magic using beings. The Ministry of Magic stands firmly against this, and under the feckless leadership of wizards such as Bartemius Crouch Senior, the Head of Magical Law Enforcement, the tide was beginning to turn. Through inter-departamental memo and official sanction of the Minister for Magic, the Aurors have been authorized to use unforgivable curses against Death Eaters as well as suspected Death Eaters. This escalation of the war would certainly bode well for the Aurors! Threats lay everywhere, however, from sudden assassinations to all out war in the streets, to th threat of infiltration by dark agents. Aurors, as the chief agents of magical law enforcement as well as detectives of sort, are on the front line of this war. It is only through their efforts, and those of their deputized specialists, that the dark forced are kept at bay. This war is characterized by bursts of activity and periods of inaction, the Dark Lord strikes at will, and is willing to bide his time to seek the perfect moments of opportunity.

Chapter One: 1959, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Backstory, character introductions, you’re hired!

Chapter Two: 1969, The Department of Magical Law Enforcement – Prelude to Disaster.

Chapter Three: 1971, In the aftermath of a large battle, the Aurors pick up the pieces – the adventure begins.

Voldemort and his followers are seeking a magical item of great potency. Voldemort has delegated the task to several of his most powerful lieutenants. It is up to the Aurors to investigate the matter, and come to the proper course of action.

Administrative matters: Since it has become impossible to procure a forum to organize our threads, I will come to alternate arrangement regarding where the game will live. If things get bad, Invisionfree is an option. Until that eventuality, please look here.

I've been using either my phone or tablet for a while, I have finally saved up enough to build a PC, which will be my first custom built computer. I have most of the parts ordered, and will probably be able to boot it up on Friday. From there it should be a lot easier to make some quality posts, as well as for me to get back into gaming.

More detail regarding the adventure and start circumstances to come tomorrow! Be thinking of those back stories, you'll have the opportunity to develop them in bios as well as in Chapter One.
