Thread: Rifle representation in Fall of the samouraï

Default Rifle representation in Fall of the samouraï

While teppo range is O.K (just need to start aiming at 125 range because a single unit of cav can retard charge 4 units of terços no problem without a single short being fired) and the lack of gun diversity bearable (only shimazu have eavy gunner when some other Jidais monks order had some sohei with heavy gunner, even the Ikko Ikki, remember Ishiyama Hongan-Ji?)
When you can only have imported guns, wielded by ASHIGARU ONLY, not like a few pack of samouraï, they don't need to have Tangashima, but still...

Where you know if the japanese had the best matchlock in the east
    (with rocket launcher revolvers :
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoNUgQZ-wf8

    etc et etc etc...)

It is not because they researched gun technology late game, actually different clans had different approaches to equuipe their army with guns and when you know they all used guns.... Welp what a shame, and it it isn't a fast gun reserach mod that is going to do service to matchlock in japan...

It is fine if we don't represent the improoving quality of guns in japan.... After all teppo is still teppo.

But for Fall of the SamouraÏ? Everybody know, once they started to know the use of the azure dragon large bore rifle...And nope boshin wra rifle...
and teh rnage only 125? O.K for conscript they don't really know how to aim, but Minié bullet DOUBLE the range of firearms, and don't even immagine breach laoding or sharps...
Tosa infantry using ha I cannot find it anymore, it is a short range reapting rifle use by skirmishers and skirmish cav during teh ameircan civil war. Not as popular as the enfield but close.
By the way teh enfield was massivly used during teh boshin war...

Ha yhea spencer rifles, that is what Tosa used..

"En Asie, dans le cadre de l'utilisation débutante à grande échelle des armes à feu au Japon, le Spencer rifle arma les guerriers du domaine de Tosa lors de la guerre de Boshin (1867-1868)."

Wikipedia FR about the spencer rifle.

Yhea so spencer that ourange people using sharps..

Snider enfield O.K But the thing is that sharps were used during the boshin war... I mean don't get me wrong if Tosa infantry is trained at firing at long range they would be able to outrange troops eqquiped with sniders....

The worset is that CA was aware of the existance of Dreyse rifles Chasspot, techniquement les fuils Gewerh devrait avoir la même porté que the Tanegashima Matchlock...

Mean the fact that almost all rifle reload by la bouche and no by la culasse. I just erf, again the Kihitai are boshin rifle but don't have the animation of reloading by la bouche, yet shogun infantry have breech loading rifle but the animation is the realoding by la bouche, and it take ages...

Again the fact that minié rifle double the range we should have elite/decent infantry by able to to shoot very far, it doesn't need to be effective, or as effective than trained skirmisher units

Mean post american civil war era, was a golden age of rifle of all kind.... And japan basicly imported from everywhere..

Would be great in multiplayer to be able to uppgrade you shinsegumi with chasspot.. So You know they don't get wreck by a charge while reloading like any other infantry.. Mean it is normal line infantry to get wreck in mellee when they reload,

Imagine a chasspot with a katana as bayonet... Wielded by the shinsengumi police force

Would be great to have large boar rifle wielded by the azur dragon.. doing more dammage.

Like regular heavy gunner (the historicla one not the one in the game who seemn to be using portative canons rather than heavy gun, and portative canon where a thing in japan, some of those even had explosive round...)
Cappble of killing 2 mean, like the bullet just go through one men then continue... But the range would not be that great but not mathclock level of bad.... Gewerh level of bad.

It is mean to kill elephant. By teh large bore rifle existed in Japan before the boshin war, because japanese are matchlock expert.
Should do some great morla dammage because big caliber = horrifying wounds....

Kihitai should also be equipped with those rifles....

But no it is all boshin war rifle wich mean : EVERYGOD DAMN RIFLE ON EARTH THAT HAS BEEN PRODUCED UNTIL THE END OF THIS ING WAR.
    But hey just a detail....

Just look at what ultimate general did for civil war.. Just to have and idea of what Fall of the samouraï could have been, you start to regret the fun you had gunning down tradditionliste army in multiplayer.... Your love of gun made you go research stuff.... And you find out that nope, it wasn't that fun after all...

You start imagining Yugitai with sharps and 200 range.

And considering the massive import of gun during the boshin war... Welp could have been greater.....
I am not saying to introduce thing like Yellow boy or the henry rifle (could be great for tosa)
But still a diservice has been made.
