    Where are the files 'expot_buildings.txt' etc located? I've been looking for ages

    In the text folder after converting the string.bin files.

    How do I rename characters? I dried doing it by changing their name in the desc.strat file and the game stopped working.

    So I'm having an issue, any time I start the game, Assyria does not show as a faction AT ALL, I posted below the script, what's the problem?

    u need to edit desr_names and text/names files first, then u can use that names in other files. that's why u got crash.

    u did not follow tutorial from start. u must use normans of saxons for your faction. so it must go like this:
    faction normans ( or saxons ), trader henry, etc...

    Incoming noob. I want to create a faction for a mod that uses Kingdoms, is any of this applicable? What is/isn't? Again, thank you, and please bear with me, I have never modded anything and want to learn from scratch.
    When Hiero returned to besiege their base (Messana) in 265 BC the Mamertines called for help from a nearby fleet from Carthage, which occupied the harbor of Messana. Seeing this, the Syracuse forces retired, not wishing to confront Carthaginian forces. Uncomfortable under the Cathaginian "protection," the Mamertines now appealed to Rome to be allowed into the protection of the Roman people. At first, the Romans did not wish to come to the aid of soldiers who had unjustly stolen a city from its rightful possessors. However, unwilling to see Carthaginian power spread further over Sicily and get too close to Italy, Rome responded by entering into an alliance with the Mamertines. In response, Syracuse allied itself with Carthage, imploring their protection. With Rome and Carthage brought into conflict, the Syracuse/Mamertine conflict escalated into the First Punic War.

    Use the BinEditor to open the STRING.BIN version of that file and 'export' it (creates editable TXT version). If you do not have that file at all, then you need to extract it.

    A complete set of required files can be found in this tutorial.

    Hey could use help made Saxon faction but I want to add a adult heir,generals,and a princess but every time I try it when I select Saxon and press start it loops back to the man menu

    You can't - the game needs at least one faction with the special ability 'slave_faction '.

    You have to put victory conditions in for them

    If you played the Normans and lost automatically then it's not because of the win_conditions of the Normans - you either did not allocate a settlement to the faction or don't have a named character.
