    Hi Miguel! I would like to know if the next version of your mod could be added more "Viking Factions" to the roster of the campaing, because historically from 1004 until the year of 1066 there were still several viking warlords ravaging the coasts of Western Europe, many of them still pagan, and who were independent from the kings of Norway and Denmark. Like for example the same Olaf II Haraldsson before become a king.

    In fact, the northern kingdoms of Spain were precisely at the begining of the mod under the continuous threat from bands of Viking warlords which were called "Lordemani", that besides to made frequent raids in those kingdoms also served them as mercenaries, specially in the frequent nobiliar wars. Besides, is very possible that they had somekind of permanent "sentlements or bases" in Galicia and Vasque country (this last partly confirmed by Medieval Sources) in which they wintered and harbored their ships.

    So, personally I think it would be a grear addition to the campaing two or three "Viking Warlords" factions which would be hordes with bases in Spain, England and France at the begining of the mod. And one of them could be the one of the Lordemani, whose leader more infamous was Ulf the Galiciefarer: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulf_el_gallego who was active in Galicia between 1028 and 1048.

    Hello Rampante-Cid. I don't have space to add so much "Viking faction", only 3 cities in Denmark (Kingdom of Denmark). What you mean exactly with to adding bases? In Attila Total War cannot create forts. In any case, the main viking attacks in the Iberian peninsula predate the year 1004 AD.




    The script I'm trying to make is about Knud the Great against the English, etc, but the LUA language conditions are quite limited. Although I can make scheduled attacks, I want it to be a more elaborate script.

    So in this way you could add more factions to the roster as emerging hordes, like for example the Normans of Southern Italy (maybe appearing in a script event?) or the Almoravids, besides a Viking faction which could be called "Lordemani" and would have "camp bases" in Galicia and the Vasque Country. While the other Viking horde faction could be the famous mercenary army of the Jomsvikings which had their base at Jomsborg in Pomerania:

    Finally, altough it's true that the main Viking assaults against the Peninsule had ended some decades ago, the Viking still played an important role as mercenaries and pirates at the north of the Peninsule during the first years of the XI century. Specially in Galicia, where they mantained their raids (in 1015 a band of Vikings leadered by Olaf sacked the city of Tuy) and kidnappings sporiadically until the middle of that century.

    I don't find any sense in making Viking hordes in the 11th century, simply because there were some sporadic bandits, and nor filling the AoC map with "camp bases", whatever faction it may be. By the way, this pack file doesn't transform any faction as a horde nor enable the creation of camps in the AoC campaign.



    About the Normans in Italy they are an accumulation of events that cannot be represented in the game. I will have think of a script that suits the better possible. And about the Almoravids, first there should be taifas, and they enter in the Iberian Peninsula at the end of the 11th century; I think that all this would fit better in a different campaign, and also with a different distribution of the map of Europe.

    And what about represent these bands of Viking as mercenary units only recruitable in certain areas? For example, the Lordemani in Galicia and the area of the Viscaya bay, and the Jomsvikings as mercenaries in Denmark and the Baltic area?

    And respect the Jomsvikings, they were not just a simple group of bandits precisely if not more simmilar to later Christian Orders as the Hospitaller knights but Pagan. In fact, they had their own territory around Jomsborg at the sea province controlled by the Obodrotite faction in the Vanilla version, being allied with their Wends neighbours. So, it wouldn't be odd to add them as playable faction settled in that province. Below a map of their territory (as it can be see Jomsborg was situated just in the eastern border of the vanilla map so it wouldn't be odd give them that province, having in mind much bigger "incongruencies" from the original map as Santiago de Compostela as a sea port in Galicia.) :

    In any case in some Italy zones, which is where they actually hired Norman mercenaries with more serious objectives.

    And Spain, yes it'sn very know but they served as mercenaries also in Aragon and Catalan Counties at this time. Take a look:

    So, is evident that they were also very active in the Hispanic March and specially in Barcelona and lately also in Aragón.

    Besides there more references of Viking mercenaries in the armies of Asturias and Leon, being still hipotetical between the VIII and the IX century but clearly documented for the X and the begining of the XI centuries:

    Besides the argument that the Normans were hired in Italy for "more seriuous objectives" it hasn´t much sense. When they arrived to Southern Italy around 1015, called by the Lombards to fight the Byzantines, they were not precisely very numerous and didn't have a "Predefined Plan of Conquest". In fact, in their first clashes with the Byzantines they suffered several defeats, and was only after to take control of some strategic points that they begining their process of expansion, backed by the arrival of new recruits from Normandy (for example the Hauteville brothers who weren,t among the first group of mercenaries.) In other words, for when they appeared in Italy the Normans were only another group of mercenaries like the Germans (from Swabia specially) in the north and Rome, or like their brothers in Barcelona and Aragón. In certain way, simmilary to Rome at the IV B.C. nothing seemed to presage their future control of all Southern Italy and Sicily in their beginings.

    Throughout Europe better... In addition, the mercenaries are classified by provinces, not by regions.

    These days there have been some changes. I have eliminated ugly helmets and I have retouched the textures assigned to the shields, removing the ridiculous and childish textures. Also some adjustment in the penalties by difficulty.

    Great job as always Miguel, right now I'm going to start playing it. I detected something strange on the screen to choose faction in the age of Charlemagne, by default I get the Sante Headquarters, but however I do not see it in the list, I have extended my graphics to a resolution 1920 x 1080 and still not seen, just like it would take a much higher resolution for the rest of the playable factions to be seen (and could be selected). I will enjoy it as surely as with all your mods, greetings.

    @Juanele: Chosse "Grand Campaign". The menu of AoC is for 1366x768

    Hello. I had planned make more campaigns with more advanced periods (1100-1150). Also it would be interesting to cover the hundread years war; the problem is the complexity of the units, gunpowder, castles and more advanced cities, etc...
