I did not know why, my script ran to the end, the game seemed to just not apply the effect some times. I assumed because the autoresolve script was not designed to turn very low odds into a victory. But by changing the effects of the autoresolve modification right after the win modification (a piece of code I had stolen from Guranteed Major Faction Empires), got it to apply roughly 29 out of 30 times in my testing.
I mentioned my script in this thread, because it in general leads to a more historical expansion and also protects small factions like Pergamum. If the OP wants to play historically, it is just most likely that Pergamum will have been eradicated by the time the romans get there without the script. (Indeed it is most likely most of the map will be a bactrian empire by turn 150 without my script.) So he can simulate events like the transfer of Pergamum via the will of the king in 133BC.
My description of adding a temporary peace was so he can manually make peace with carthage. I happen to have a commented-out line in the code, that I used to declare peace between rome and carthage for the same reason; I wanted to have several punic wars but carthage never wants to make peace after the first one.

So the line in the script for Carthage is disabled, right ? I'll have it in mind.
Cool. Thanks for letting me know buddy.
Cheers.
