In the aftermath of the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion King Aegon V received a mortal wound repelling the invaders at the battle of the Wendwater Bridge. Daemon III also falls in the battle seeing the Blackfyre forces once more retreat across the Narrow sea. In the aftermath of the battle Aegon names his disinherited son Duncan the Small heir to the Iron Throne. This causes a stir among the nobility as Aegon’s attempts to curb their power had not been popular, and Duncan had spurned a marriage to the daughter of the powerful Lord Baratheon in favor of a marriage to a peasant girl Jenny of Oldstones. Jaeharys and Sheara marry angering Lords Tully and Tyrell respectively for breaking betrothals to the two great houses. Duncan enters his reign with great nobles angered and a brother who saw his Kingship taken at the last minute.
