Without knowing the details of what you've done, it smells like you didn't setup the anim override for the mount. (campaign mount animation set overrides)
The hero has mount by default so i set this in campaign_character arts
1. variant mesh of empire pistoliers.
2. main_units.mount - wh_main_cam_mnt_emp_warhorse
3. campaign_character_arts.land_animation - cam_hu1_empire_hr1_warhorse_lance_sword_shield / cam_hu1_empire_hr1_warhorse_staff_and_sword / cam_hu1_empire_hr1_warhorse_hammer / cam_hu1_empire_hr1_warhorse_hammer_and_book

Problem with the last hero stephan_weiss.
EDIT: Never mind, solved by adding in campaign_mount_animation_set_overrides link to "unmounted" hero.
Looks like there is some hidden mechanism & mounted animations depend on this table.
