    That is very strange.
    I made a short test in custom battle, gave them to a faction and started a battle. No crash.
    The other error in the log is not crucial and should be in no way related to your crash, it's just the game calling for a battle model, that is not used anymore. I will fix this in a later patch.

    I will test the Balkan Archers in campaign as soon as I can to cross check, if this issue is also present in my installation.

    Thanks, marked for the next patch. As expected there are some german remnants from the first version of the mod.
    I could be lying, but as far as I remember the Papal States can get the Templars and Hospitallers.

    I did some testing. Sadly for you I could not repeat the bug regarding the balkan archers.
    Look here:

    Did you change anything prior to the bug occurence?
    Most times such a crash is related to a missing unit model, tied to the modeldb.
    In your case the balkan archers.

    If you want to you could upload a savegame where you experience the crash and I will take a look at it.
    Otherwise I could only advise you to make a fresh install of the mod and see if this eliminates the issue.

    No problem, I always try to help.
    Unfortunately I could not reproduce the crash with your savegame.
    It did load up as normal.



    Maybe try a fresh mod install as suggested, and see if that works.

    Edit: Oh, and I may steal the screenshot for further use ;P

    Just did a fresh install twice with and with out the patch,still crashes to desktop.
    Not sure why.

    Well,
    one last thing we could try.
    Please start the mod with the provided bat file. This will enable a very detailed log.
    Let it crash and upload the log, so I can have a look.

    Otherwise I have no idea what would cause this crash.

    Good news CareBearKiller

    I found out what went wrong.
    I will upload a patch shortly, as you should not be the only one affected by this crash with the balkan archers.

    Edit:

    When making this mod I put the Balkan Archer texture into the base games texture folder instead of the mods folder.
    So I did not experience the crash as the game found the texture. It was just in the wrong folder.
    Everyone else would get a crash.
    The log pointed me finally in the right direction.
    Now you can enjoy again hiring balkan mercenaries.

    The second patch is now live

    Patch #2
    -Fixed a CTD caused by a missing texture from the Balkan Archers (Merc unit)
    -Fixed the german spelling of William (Wilhelm), so it is now William the Conqueror
    -Fixed the pink unit portrait

    Step 1 - unzip it
    Step 2 - put the unzipped folder into the totalvanillab folder in your mod directory
    Step 3 - Say yes to overwrite existing files
    Step 4 - Say no to drugs

    You are welcome.

    I think a bit of a challenge could be the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.
    This is my next playthrough. And I haven't testet them in depth.

    They start in an interesting spot and are fairly small in the beginning and have access to some crusader/frankish mercenary troops with a special building.

    Cant start it, done all u say but crashing on start up. Ive got both 1,2patch.
