Ramses , the eastern Egyptian general looked with interest at his maps , at the Egyptian position , and frowned at the position of the new defensive line he had made in the Sinai desert. The positions of the first defensive fortified lines of defence, had been destroyed with the mighty hordes of Parthia who had stormed the forts and Jerusalem at the same time with overwhelming force.

During the attack , he had looked desperately at the enemies forces dispositions, hoping to perhaps engage a single army group to isolate it , and bring it to battle. But the clever Parthian generals had protected there forces with generals who where acquainted with fighting at night. The only lone force was the one attacking Jerusalem , and he could only bring one force to battle it, which was not sufficient to break its siege. Knowing that the defensive line was broken he moved most of his strength westwards into the newly prepared Sinai desert forts to form a new defensive position. Unfortunately some of the infantry , around half a army-group had to move southwards , as they feared being caught on the march in the open , which forced them into the City of Petra. Both Gaza and Petra feared attack , and so the Egyptians set about a policy of scorched earth leaving little in the settlements they felt sure to fall.

Months passed , until the Parthians pursed the attack , putting a single army group down to siege Petra, but the Gods had turned against the eastern horsemasters, as there was distant news , that barbarian attackers were pressuring the Parthian empire on its far eastern borders. The sudden attack forced the 2 infantry armies to withdraw to the Sidon coastline , and the two main cavalry strike forces withdrew in haste to the northeast . But the parthian's still had a piece , to play as General Xanthos lead a small battlegroup, southwards past the now unsieged city of Petra to move down to the settlement of Jedda. The small desert town , had little defences to resist such a attack , and little resistance , would be made , as it was to far in the east , to reinforce with any strength , which was reserved to cover the major cities of Egypt.

He looked up , wiped his forehead in the heat, as he finished his report on the defence of eastern Egypt , and gave it to a messenger , who would take the news to the queen , and hoped she would not be displeased , for otherwise it would cost him , his head.

Cleopatra read the reports , and considered her actions of the foremost general, and was neither pleased or displeased, as the major cities of Egypt were still not threatened , at least at this time , and there was still moves she could play. Calling for her scribe , she began to dictate a letter for the Shah of the Persians.

The tribulations of the Parthia peoples are great , and bound to great purpose , so I ask you where the great wealth of this generation lies!

Where it lies , of course , is with Antony .....Who other could provide you with such bounty , and yet still be the wealthiest faction on the edge of the Mare Nostrum. IF you wish gold and wealth beyond your imagining, then seek the answer on your western border. Perhaps even a force ,stationed there could "persuade" Antony to submit further terrority or valuables without conflict , as he certainly has both in abundance. We hope you see reason after your recent conflicts, as you will need large sums of wealth , to further your empire and it must be sort in the west , rather to the south.

All we can offer is blood and sand, anything else you can hope for , you will not find in the southern deserts. Here we promise death for your best forces, for little gain , you may win our lands after a time , but here your forces will be isolated from the north and have little where else to go , whilst your whole empire is vulnerable, to Antony attacking you . Remember as the great Queen once said "There can only be one!" [cue background highlander queen music]

The navy of Marcus Aemilius Lepidus broke through the blockade of the Pompeian forces, allowing his legions to continue their advance through Sicily. The city of Himera is under siege. Further more the cities of Saldae and Cyrene have been taken with overhelming odds by the victorious forces of Lepidus.

Betrayal among the ranks of the hordes! Chieftain Ellac decides to abandons his companion Uldin in front of danger from Parthian armies and flees in the night with his forces, taking all the horses of the hordes. Upon seeing, without the necessary forces to press on Babylon, Uldin decides to remain at Adma to replenish his ranks with mercenaries. The rest of the hordes are moving west and have begun raiding Asia Minor. The city of Angora is under siege!

The legions of Sextus Pompey have started to desert upon facing defeat, the remaining forces retreat to Sicily to defend. Gaius 'Caesar' Octavianus and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus pursuit! It shall not be long until the traitor Sextus Pompey is brought to justice for crimes against Rome.

Arena Games II

The Arena Games are here! The Roman Senate is hosting the second edition of The Arena Games in the honor of the Republic and all it's citizens.
Any player can choose to take part in these fights by sending fighters of their own to fight in the Roman pits the winner of this edition shall receive 3000 drachmas as a prize.
Players can also bet their money at these fights if they wish, the winner takes all.
Until the end of the turn the players must send the admin(private) the name of the fighter they're sending as well as the ammount of money they want to bet if they choose to do so. The chance of winning a fight is increased by the skill points of the fighters. The chance of getting wounded is decreased by the hipoints the general has. Players can request the admin to transfer ancillaries to the fighter they wish to send.
If they don't have any fighters to send they can choose to buy gladiators from the admin for the sum of 1000 drachmas.
Fight well Rome demands blood!

The hordes continue their march west and reached the gates of Gordium. It is now under siege.

The remaining legions of Sextus Pompey have retreated to Sicily where they shall make their last stand. The navy however has now turned to piracy and it's raiding the sea and the coasts. Only time will tell what will happen next. Pompey has been turned AI
