Thread: Extremely bad performance

    Default Extremely bad performance

While my system certainly isn't the most powerfull, as it is several years old, I could run Warhammer 2 just fine on high settings. Averaging arround 25-30 FPS in big battles. But now when I zoom in on medium settings i only reach 14-17 fps. Even on the campaign map i am stuck at 25 fps. Most of the times even 20 fps. I updated my GPU drivers so that can't be the issue.

Can anyone guess what the problem is?

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.6GHz

    Memory: 8192MB RAM
GPU name: AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series 2032 MB dedicated memory

How much VRAM is WH2 detecting? Friendīs game showed 512MB while he had 2+ GB..had to manually change the ini file..

It detects 2gb... So unfortunately that isn't the problem.

Have you checked the advices in the Warhammer 2 benchmark thread yet. Additionally Defrag your HD will help. Don't underestimate loading times of textures from disk can cause lags and slow performance or caching issues.

Could you also post a cpu that log in addition to the already posted dxdiag. Thank you.

Also check your cooling and considering the age of the system the cooling paste condition. Shouldn't be dried. Also your cpu easily does support a 44x multi so 4.4 GHz.

There is a possibility that WHII has some optimization issues with certain configurations since I have seen similar reports on the totalwar forums.
Besides that, posting your preferences.script.txt file with all the configuration options would be great.
See here for how to find it: https://forums.totalwar.com/discussi...pt-file#latest

Thanks for the responses! Where do i find a CPU log? My cooling system could be a problem, since my PC case is broken. One of the side panels is unattached. The problem is that all other games run just fine on high settings (including Warhammer II).

You'll need cpu-z. Find more information and links on both Warhammer benchmark threads.

I'm using i5 3570 and RX 560 4GB with everything sets in ultra where the campaign map is around 14-16 fps and battle map is around 25-28. Disabling SSAO and AA will add around 5 fps (shadow lowered to Low).

Read somewhere that using Steam build in fps counter also takes a toll of fps so I disable it. While benchmarking the game will show lower fps (compared to 30+) on Warhammer 1, I found that Warhammer 2 is more stable and does not stutter even when running on lower fps.

Unless you're running in Low setting, I thing your reported fps is about right.

With Low settings, I can get above 40 fps.
