I'd say only deviate slightly from the colour of bronze greaves, you don't want it too yellow or it looks like brass. otherwise they'd be brass shields. I really like the above. Looks royal.
Thx for the feedback, but I´m a bit confused, do you mean the last picture is good or too yellow?
Because the CA bronze looks more like copper to me. But then again, that´s me^^
I´ve also mish mashed a bit to make this one, another Antiochus head in similar fashion is in the works

BTW, should I also make a bronze version of the Antiochus shield?
I don´t know why, but I have the impression only elite units like the Peltasts or the Argyaspidai would get such "headed" kit, to signify that they were the guard especially chosen by the king.

That´s how ancient bronze looks today, but AFAIK freshly forged bronze looks more yellow than red.
Of course, in a time when forging wasn´t as much a sience but rather an art, passed down in various similar but yet distinctive ways,
one has to allow for some variety in the proportion of tin to copper and therefore the tone and hue of the colour.
But that still leaves us with greek art which, as far as I know, always depicts bronze as yellow.

Of course there´s different hues and tones of bronze, but greek art always depicts it as yellow.

Idea: Why not having them all? mixed and if you want. Furthermore, don't mix them in the same equally percentage. You decide wich one got wich %.
"Everyone happy" and "variety is all about" plus we are talking about plausible stuff,(I agree that there's different tones of bronze) not adding because of "why not hurr durr lel?".
Definitely agree, but this will increase the size of the eventual file

I'm actually struggling to get even one colour tone to look consistent in every lightening setting, so the first version will definitely only contain my own preference, other tones and hues will be added at a later date.
On another note I think it may be appropriate to rename the thread into sth along the lines of "Shades of Silver and Bronze"
any idea how to do that?

Hey so is this still a thing?
Well to my own embarrassment I‘ve kind of stopped working on this.
Though I may just release the finished SShields without the Bronce ones.

That would be really cool. I remember looking at this thread a few months back and was looking forward to a future release. I'm sure the rest of the community would enjoy the option of downloading this.
