    Icon5 Every Settlement is a Walled Settlement (Poll)

    As of right now, every settlement in the Ancient Empires campaign is walled and can be besieged. The province capitals are now the administrative heart of a province, providing aqueducts and roads which smaller regions cannot build on their own.

    Do our fans like the idea of having every settlement have walls?

    TOTALLY YES!!!

    For future releases could be done maps exclusively for each settlement... could be great!!!

    That sounds like a lot of work xD! We've got a decent amount of variation right now, as well as many custom maps for famous cities such as Carthage, Rome, Syracuse, Antioch, Alexandria ect.

    I know, I know hehehe

    Yeah that´s something great about your mod, all the maps you´ve done... but I mean other modders could collaborate in the future adding new cities for example...

    But for now the mod itself is wonderful, so I´m fine! :-)

    Yes excellent idea, also better from a gameplay perspective as walled settlements harder to capture

    Yes good idea as long as the settlements are not all massive walled settlements.
    I do however think that if possible for walls to be scaled based on settlement type, so for instance minor settlements would have a wooden palisade or wooden platformed walls.

    Apparently I am not allowed to vote. Regardless, I think it's great to have walls around every city. After all, only Spartans would see no use in them for city defense.

    Yes, please!

    That would be the realistic thing to do, since each city represents the capital of an entire region therefore it has to be quite developed.

    Most important settlements in the ancient times did have walls, so I think it would be historically accurate. Therefore I'm gonna vote yes!

    I'm interested to know what the other side of the argument would be? Does anyone not want walls, why?

    Absolutely YESSS!!! Due to engine settlement limitation, it historically makes sense and would be realistic! Another fix to CA faulty design...

    im going with no, part of the strength of rome 2/attila was that there was a ridiculuous amount of battle type variety (walled and unwalled, naval, field, naval/land, amphibious assault). Unwalled settlements play a lot differently and require differfent strategies to walled. Additionally attila already comes with the feature to build walls on any settlement so I don't think it is necessary.

    How about walled settlement on tier 2 or 3 instead of vanilla tier 4? I really like the idea of walled settlements for minor cities, but sobchack has a good point. Defending unwalled settlements can be so much fun.

    Pls no, also if I'm remembering my early imperial Roman history right, a lot of early imperial Roman colonias were built without walls, as were at least a fair number of other settlements including, famously, Sparta.

    I normally would like to have all settlements walled but when remembering rome 1, I think it will turn out to be rather repetetive and annoying. I think sieges should be special and I really like the non-walled settlement battles of attila. If every settlement has a different layout, its better for making it not as repetetive / boring. It all comes down to map variety.
