welcome on board the DeI fun train. I promise you will never play the vanilla game again

Now Carthage would rarely attack you in the first 10 turns since they're already at war with Epiros. Use that time to consolidate 1 good army with at least 10 roman units plus the cheap filler levies. You do start with a good core of Triarii, Principe, and Histati. Just expand on that. It's unlikely that you could afford to build a lot of Principe, so just fill your ranks with Histati and auxiliaries (cheap upkeep) until you get your economy up and running.

Now if/when you have enough money you can organize your army in the almost unbeatable Roman Triplex Acies fashion: 2 Triarii, 5 Principe, 5 Histati, 2 Valite, 2 slingers/archers, 3 cavalry (Equites Extraordinarii and other allied cavalry preferably).

After the Polybian reforms, your infantry are versatile enough to hold up against almost everything. Of course each battle is different. Depending on your enemy army and strength, you could use different tactics. Moreover, since you might be new to the game, it's a good idea to do some custom battles with few units to study how well you can use each unit to its strength (example Triarii although the most expensive roman infantry, tend to suffer quite a lot of losses if you order them to attack a heavy sword unit, BUT if you don't order an attack, they can hold the line all day long!)

Feel free to post here all the time with your experiences and situation, and hey, you might get a tip or two

good post @hoho96, the fun train never stops

    too make it short:
    - defeat Epirus in Italy
    - build up your economy (buildings)
    - conquer Sicily
    - build up a fleet once you control Sicily
    - defeat Carthage fleets and armies they send to Sicily
    - now you should have time to think about your next step (Conquer Africa, Spain, Greece or northern Italy or whatever)

If you do have enough economy to build one or two good armies, then you should be able to make a comeback. Try to make peace with some factions if you're in multiple wars (you may need to bribe), and concentrate on consolidating your territory. Once you feel strong enough, you can start attacking enemy towns.

I can do two good armies. I have one last question, how can i increase the public order? I already have a temple in all provinces...

Get Governors ASAP! They can convert culture, raise tax, and increase PO through skills (public orator was its name I think).

Also in the main province city, there's the forum building which allows you to build some very powerful PO buildings (the gladiator school).

Sometimes temples aren't the best idea since it has upkeep, and if you can't maximize its bonus, it will lower your income. Latium for example doesn't need a temple. Italia can also be very happy with only a governor for culture.

you can also get a general with PO skills. In DeI you can specialize generals as governors where they can boost culture, PO, research, and income (skills such as Rightful Sovereign, and Capable Bureaucrat).

Something to keep in mind is that in DeI garrisoned armies actually decrease PO. So unless you really have to, it's always better to station your army outside in patrol stance (Patrol actually increase PO!).

You should probably read the DeI manuals here.

Basically DeI uses the Reforms system. It basically means that any culture will undergo unit upgrades (for better or worse) at some point in time. This is largely tied to the number of turns for the player and AI, plus the player will have to research a certain technology to unlock the upgrade once the reform event is triggered, and reach a certain Imperium lvl (this is not the case for the AI).

This is a semi-realistic system of reflecting that throughout history (especially ancient history) fighting style evolved organically as opposed to the vanilla arcade method.

For Rome the breakdown is as follows:
Polybian - Imperium level 3, minimum turns 40
Marian - Imperium level 5, minimum turns 100
Imperial - Imperium level 7, minimum turns 210
