Still getting the kingdoms.exe error on steam version

I did all the stuff you're supposed to do like changing the medieval2 application to kingdoms, but I'm still getting the error. Tried other suggested methods and they don't work either, medieval 2 just opens a tab briefly and then closes again. Anyone else had this problem.

Did you change the ME2 application to kingdoms which would be wrong, or make a copy and then change the copy?
