    A nice reconstruction of the Abbasid military. What will tier2/tier3 be based on? I can see some Mamluk helmets in the early roster so I guess tier2/tier3 Ghulam class will be based on Mamluks too, the rest of the roster can reflect native military elements of the region, with Turkoman and Kurdish auxiliaries/mercenaries.

    I also look forward to seeing trebuchets, not necessarily animations though, some screenshots of the 3D model would be good.

    You are spot-on with your assessment actually. T2 and 3 will be the same basic army structure with iraqi tribal auxiliaries, turcomans, and kurds. I will also preserve the futuwwa system. I think it is very probable those organizations would have persisted had the Mongols not invaded, and they will help differentiate the Abbasids from the ahdaths of Syria or the Mamluk Egyptian halqa.

    The individual ranks and types of mamluk will be taken from syro-egyptian sources since I really have no other references that are as close to the caliphate as those from Egypt. Much of the t2 and 3 information will be from that area, and thats for multiple reasons. One being that most iraqi refugees, and the caliphate itself, went to Egypt after the invasion. Second is that its just plainly the best source for syrian arab design and equippment through the 14th and 15th centuries with the least amount of turkic or mongolic influence.

    Great plan... will you do the Zangids as well or is that a task for hessam... I was wondering what evolution will they have... Mosul... Jalayirids and Kara Qoyunlu I guess... t2 and 3 of Aq Qoyunlu of zsimmortal would do here... and what about Shirvan who will take their role!?

    T2 is moving along very nicely. Don't worry, its coming up soon.

    If you have good research please don't hesitate to send me everything you have. T2 and 3 are more difficult because I have to extrapolate into the future. If you have good sources on the following, I could especially make use of them:

    - 14th - 15th century brigantines / lamellars in Syria and Iraq

    - Mamluk ranks and regiments in Syria and Iraq, same period

    - Native Iraqi institutions and government under the Jalayirids

    Put up the Abbasid t2. Its all in active development so as always, keep that in mind. Some stylistic choices have been made, and in other cases historical accuracy has trumped stylistic decisions. A little tit-for-tat there.

    Looks real good having an spear infantry general, that's unique. Marry me.

    Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
    I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    T3 is up, mostly. Unexpected technical issues have kept two units of the preview. Enjoy!

    Keep in mind, its very speculative because of the nature of the Abbasid caliphate past the 13th century i.e., non-existent. Its mostly based on Egyptian mamluk equipment with a iraqi flair.

    I took them out back and shot them.

    There was a unexpected bug causing my pack to crash when they were playable, so I had to cut them out of the preview until I could figure out what was causing the crash.

    @Zhouhaiyang

    I imagine the Ayyubid t3 will be a Mamluk roster, but I can't speak for Lucem on whatever his plans are for dealing with the Mamluk Sultanate.
