open dds file

I searched a long time until I have found a Programm which I could open DDS files (not only view). The best I could find was Adobe Photoshop 9 and dds plugin form nvidia homepage.

Ive tried to get photo shop to open a dds file for about two days now. Every time I try ( after I installed the dds plugin) it says

could not complete your request because of a problem with the file-format interface module

anyone have any ideas?

maybe your are talking about jasc photoshop pro, I couldnt get it working with this program also. with adobe photoshop is simple you put the pulgin in the plugin folder and just open the file like any other

I gave you an other download link than I used, I thought it was the same but here is the one I used

the plugin is called dds.8bi
there are more than 1 plugin folder in cs2 9 version. put the file in the the photoshop folder and imageshop folder. like this it should work perfectly.

no that didnt work eaither... Ive tried three different versions of dds.8bi and none of them work.

I don't have photoshop, but an old version of photoimpact without .dds plugin. So what I do is convert .dds files into .tga or .png, then once I finished reconverting into .dds then .textures...
You could forget about the plugin and just work around it like this....?

well...you've just discovered the obvious....

anybody involved in graphical works of any kind, knows that Photoshop is the
"must"....

since it was ported from Mac, to Windows platform.

I found out my problem. It wasent with the plugin or with photoshop ( I reinstalled both atleast four times), but with the unpacker. I didnt think of reinstalling the patch and the unpacker until a minute ago. well that was stupid of me. It works now though.
