That would the very position you're defending right now. It's that of Erdoğan. He loves guilt by association.

^Ehm... wait, aren't you the one defending what the turkish embassy people/thugs did? How can you claim that anyone else is defending Erdo/Turkey more than you. I mean you even refuse to identify this latest thuggish act as something of note, as if it is routine action to have foreign govs hit demonstrators.

Sigh, what a mess... This is what happens when you make stuff about what others argue like you do here. Why are you making stuff up?

No, they don't have that right. They can arrest you at worst, but no cop has a right to beat you up. The fact that police brutality is justified when immigrants are at the end of the receiving end it is quite despicable.
Yes they do. If you are resisting arrest, for example, how is he going to arrest you if not by use of force? Cast a "web" or something?

The problem is that you are avoiding altogether the topic we are discussing and it is the president of your country giving the order to his bodyguards to beat foreign protesters in a foreign country deflecting all the questions to some totally unrelated events in the Netherlands.

Fact is that you have a thuggish president and you merely deflect from this.

No, they don't. You can show me any law suggesting this. If you resist arrest the cops can't beat the out of you. They can use force to restrain you like pinning you down. They can even tase you if you present a danger. They can defend themselves if you're attacking them with your fists. They can't, however, start hitting you for standing still.

In my very first post I called the incident vile and idiotic. I'm not deflecting or avoiding anything. I'm just not giving in to hypocrisies and following an ignorant and potentially a bigoted narrative. I, for example, don't have to lie about what Erdoğan did to criticize him. I'm not the one doing mental gymnastics to deflect from criticism. Don't make stuff up about what others argue like this when you don't like the hypocrisies are pointed out.

Exactly. The assailant tries to present himself as the victim. THis is the characteristic attitude of the turkish state.

Maybe the protesters were looking at them funny. That's one of those reasons Turkish/Middle Eastern criminals usually give for swarming somebody five to one and kicking his head.

Well, how dare they look at them?

Interestingly enough, Turkey adds insult to injury, by demanding that the US apologize:

Turkey Demands U.S. Apology for Interrupting as Erdogan’s Bodyguards Beat Up Protesters
Summoning the U.S. ambassador to Ankara, the Turkish government chastised U.S. law enforcement for their ”aggressive and unprofessional actions” in allowing anti-Erdogan protesters to continue demonstrating.

Out of experience from someone who knows a few things about turkish (state) mentality: Unless Turkey is taught a REALLY harsh lesson, this will not only continue, but also escalate.

It's good that there's at least one issue that can unite the left and right in America.
