RTW/BI wont load

Reinstalled the game recently, as it started crashing on every battle inexplicably. Now it simply wont load. Theres no crash, because it doesnt load at all. Added -show err and -nm to skip a cinematic if that was causing the crash, nothing.

I'm on win7. Anyone got a clue? I've reinstalled a few times, same issue.
edit: sega total war eras edition, not steam, if that matters.

Have you installed any mods or is it vanilla only ?

Have you tried activating the game on Steam and following the guide for win10 (also helps with win7)

My version is a pre-steam version of rome total war though?
