'oh lands and a title now?, mommy kathy must be proud'!

Oh, i am humbled by the generosity of His Majesty, and you too have my eternal gratitude Lord Buckingham. Swynford said delightful, the match proved already to be a blessed and happy one.

He chuckled a bit, he was glad for this.
Oh yes, you read minds Buckingham!, i am very honored to have me called husband to your noble sister, Lady Isabel. well, there was still one thing to discuss.

    He paused a bit.
Well there is one more subject to discuss, that of the dowry My lord. Swynford said.

This was the first time the Duke of Buckingham had gotten to meet his brother-in-law, the Earl of Worcester, who had married his middle sister, Joan. He recalled his uncle mentioning the marriage shortly after the arrangements were made, but since then, he had neither met this Thomas Nevill nor seen his sister Joan, though they still wrote to one another from time to time. Lord Worcester is shown into Shene Palace and into the main hall where Buckingham was dining with his wife, Lady Stafford, and his sister, Lady Isabel, who would soon be leaving his household to join Sir Swynford's as his wife. As the door opens, Humphrey looks up to see Lord Nevill walk in, rising once the servant announced who he was.

My Lord Worcester, its a pleasure to finally meet the husband of my sister, Joan. She speaks fondly of you in her letters. Please, come and join us.

He beckons for a servant to come over, pulling out a chair for their guest before another went off to find additional plateware, utensils, and a goblet for wine.

She never told me of your impending visit however. I will have to tell her I want a warning next time so I can be better prepared.

"What can I say, I'm a pleasant husband!"

He said. After taking a seat, he looks around.

I hope the cooks are sufficiently good.

"I just happened to be by your new... eh... palace and decided to pay your Lordship a visit"

    Clearly, it wasn't casual.

"Did you hear? My poor nephews, bastardized! I would cry, manly tears of sorrow, if I could! But my eyes are dry!"

He didn't look like crying, but fine.

"I'm seeking a bride for my eldest nephew and I found one, but I will need to convince His Majesty, and I believe he won't be able to refuse our combined... charms!"

Buckingham notices the look in his wife's eye. He, too, had heard of his brother-in-law's personality. Yet it was better than a sober conversation that felt like a modern day college lecture.

I have indeed heard of Westmorland's decision to make his children by Lady Stafford bastards. Perhaps he hopes for royal blood to inherit his Earldom one day.

It was a sad circumstance that the Earl would do such a thing to his own blood out of selfish intention. His eyebrow goes up however at the mention of a bride for the eldest of Neville's bastard sons.

And who do you feel is the right bride for your nephew, my Lord Worcester?

    "Poor boy! Poor boy!"

He said, while fiercely cutting himself some meat.

"He has little lands to call his own, and I, like a good and well-natured uncle, decided to help him. So, I thought..."

Ordered his cup to be refilled, somehow it was empty.

"Who better than Elizabeth Berkeley? The baroness Lisle! Perfect, right?"

Buckingham leans back into his seat, drinking some wine from his cup as he thought upon the matter. It would at least secure some lands for the Nevilles who had been cast aside by their father.

I believe I can support this proposal to the King, Lord Worcester. Certainly such a young man of high birth cannot be without lands. Have you spoken with Lord Berkeley about this?

    "No, no, of course not"

Said the man formerly known as Furnival.

"I need the king's... approval. If His Majesty himself 'suggests' Lord Berkeley what a good match my nephew would be for his daughter, how could he refuse?"

He wouldn't. That was the point.

Well it might be best to broach the subject to Lord Berkeley at some point.

The King may not even suggest the Baron de Berkeley after all. And then where would Furnival's plan be?

However, if His Majesty does not suggest it, I will. The King trusts my advice, so you need not worry, Lord Worcester.

The Duke of Buckingham had only just returned from council when a servant notified him of Lord Stafford's arrival. His wife and him prepare for their guests and have a meal readied after their trip from the Stafford lands. A pair of guards escort the Earl and Countess to the vicinity of the Duke of Buckingham and the Earl's sister, Buckingham's wife. Humphrey offers a smile to the Earl Stafford.

It has been a few years since we last saw each other, good brother Stafford. I wish you had given me more warning, or else I would have been better prepared to greet you.

Aye Brother it has been some time since our last visit but fret not about preparing a feast, bread and water will do us fine. As of late Anne has been keeping me home in an effort to conceive, so far we've had no luck but i am hopeful that God will bless our union soon enough.

Perhaps after the tournament. His Majesty has been rather busy with ensuring all is set up for the event.

Humphrey was in his solar, finishing some paper work he brought back to the palace after council. A servant barely had time to introduce Sir Henry who stormed into Shene Palace. Buckingham looks at the brother of the late Sir Thomas curiously as to why he was still enraged since the tournament's event.

Sir Henry, are you still angry from what has happened? Why has your rage not receded?

The Lord will certainly bless you and your sister one day as He has blessed us with Eleanor. Patience will surely earn you what your heart desires, Lord Stafford.

How is my niece? If it is possible I'd like to see her, that is if she is not resting.
Thomas still hadn't seen the toddler and was curious who she would look like

She is being tended by her wetnurse presently. She has Stafford looks, like a smaller Joan.

Buckingham smiles, proud of his daughter nonetheless. Yet as the conversation turned to that of Neville's annulment, he felt a little unpleasant about it.

The grounds of the divorce are merely rumored; a forced marriage during Ralph's minority and such. The Pope has already ruled in favor of Lord Neville, allowing him to keep his second wife, Lady Joan Beaufort, half-sister of the King.

Swynford's rage had not yet subsided, now his brother was death, at the hands of an arrogant Holland, it made his blood boil. His mother, Katherine, was struck by grief and is inconsolable.

It is so different without Thomas, my brother died too young, it will never be the same again, i will never forgive Holland. He said so frustrated, it should have been that Holland who should lay under the ground somehow.

Odd, that he was now the last of the Swynfords, atleast in the male line.

Thomas's mood began to shift, it was clear he wasn't happy about Ralph's betrayal to his family
It is a shame really, what is too happen to their children. How could the Pope agree to such a defiling of a holy sacrament, marriage is until death displeasure or boredom is no excuse.
Thomas was getting enraged but the culprit wasn't even in the room, he then quickly drank some wine in an effort to calm his nerves
Brother is there something we can do for those children? perhaps petition the King to maintain the line of succession.

Buckingham decides to ponder on the presented question, not entirely sure if there was anything that could be done at this point.

His Majesty favors Lord Neville, I do not think there is anything that can be done presently. Certainly, His Majesty, as well as Lord Neville, would want to see those children, mothered by Lady Beaufort, to succeed to the Earldom of Northumberland and the Baron Neville de Raby titles and lands. And to reverse the line of succession, in terms of legitimizing your nephews and nieces once more, would require not only royal permission, but holy sanction from His Holiness, who has ruled in favor of Lord Neville.

The matter had only recently been settled and bringing it back up would only stress the King to no ends.

I daresay that what you desire to do is far too complex to achieve at this given moment.

Many die in their youth, Henry. It is unfortunate that such a thing happened, though, at the King's tournament.

And Swynford was not the only to perish.

Be content to know that your brother exists peacefully in Heaven above.

It is better to bare it than to incur the wrath of the King, Lord Stafford. Someday, perhaps, you may find a better opportunity to exact your revenge.
