Thank you for the contribution of opinion.
My inquiry is no longer of relevance as I decided and from the images in this thread and in the linked posts you can see that I went on to implement them with a maille coif that covers the shoulders.
The original question was due to some illustrations of warriors in helmet and haubergeon but without maille coif and other illustrations that showed warriors in padded armor without a haubergeon but with a maille coif and iron helmet.

What weighted in on my decision is that the first example is of a 10th century heavy warrior (a knight), while the second example is of a 12th century medium warrior (a sergeant).
The models I am currently making are intended to be used for 12th century sergeants.
looks good +rep

You can see more eye-candy in this thread.
Your constant efforts in modding brought your level to the highest one. There is no relativity between your early creations with these ones!
Congratulations.
Now the cloths, chain mails have not unnessesary pixel "details" and are smooth!
One last advice. Reduse the shine of the entirely metal helmets either by alpha chanel or -if you use black alpha chanel- in the textures them selvs.
Remember to create a "silver" chain mail for high society knights (black is iron, silver is steel).
CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN. Your work will remain in use for several years!
TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
read this to avoid misunderstandings.
IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.
Well, thanks, it feels good to be appreciated.
I'm ahead of you in that.
It's just that I don't post everything new in this thread.

I don't know about that, it's going to take at least some experimentation since very small tweaks in the glossiness map can have enormous effects in-game.
Let us keep in mind that as the graphics engine of M2TW does not lend itself to Physically Based Rendering, it is altogether possible that the light that gets "reflected" off a metal surface may be more than the light that hits it originally.
First IG screenshots of the Normans of De Hauteville Sicily and with a full complement of all the types of gambeson textures.
I am still experimenting with the normal map intensity on some parts as you may be able to see.
I will soon post screenshots of the other factions as I finish more shield patterns.
