Thread: Do shields do anything?

    Default Do shields do anything?

I've been enjoying this mod quite a lot, but I've been starting to notice something - despite a number of units carrying impressively sizable shields, none of them seem to be any more resistant to arrow fire than the normal units hanging around. I know there aren't shields present in vanilla Shogun 2, but I was curious as to whether anything was done to try and replicate the ranged defense a shield provides?

AFAIK there's some stats you can't see, which work like shields. I may be wrong. I think they affect melee defense from the from and I assume, the shield is factored into armour. Which is what I guess they do. Have you compared Tusi Swordsmen and Tusi Shieldsmen?

There is a shield stat in the unit_stats_land DB table, which should provide additional armour. The Indo-Chinese units may be better for testing the shields as they have a variety of different shields.
