I can't be arsed to put in the amount of googling to know the answer.

It's this Chat's first birthday in two days, though (!!).
Actually, before you came along it was 3 months. It was something of a chore to log in every day back then and have to catch up by reading five pages of posts, most of them . There was always a VM, PM or rep message to read upon login back in ye old days
But then that Australian guy can come along and tell us about the real old days

(that's how the real good conversations start)
Mishkin, you're old. Tell us about the noughties.
The nineties. We listened to music stations and had to go to the cinema to watch a movie. The paleolithic
(Seriuosly, It was great to suddenly hear a song on the radio that you loved, and discover songs like that, totally by chance).

The 50s were a great time. I often think I was born in the wrong decade. I hate all forms of current music. I listen mostly to old country and bluegrass. When it comes to German music, I listen to Volksmusik and Jodel. In Korea, I listen to music from the 60s (e.g., Lee Mi-ja). What is wrong with me.
But how can you not like this?

*black in the United States
Ironically, I heard that black people were doing pretty well in Germany at around this time.
I decided to Google that and came up with a fascinating read. Not comprehensively-sourced, but still.

They were also doing well in France. Josephine Baker became an instant sensation in Paris back in 1927.
I have not read Inkies article, but I doubt that a black man without any special quality would be treated with much respect in the streets of any European city of the time (I mean, never, actually).
