Artillery crew position

I would like to ask if there is the possibility to modify the distances of the artillery crew from its guns. To be specific, i am wondering about those extra gunners (those that sit further back, if the gun is fully manned by the standard 5 men). I tried changing the various spacing values of an artillery unit at unit_stats_land, but those values seem to affect the crew only when the guns are limbered, or the crew is in melee mode. Is it possible or is it hardcoded ?
