First you need to have a CD key. Then you must enter that ridiculously long number into the game by pressing the Change CD Key button and voila! Now all you have to do is press online and type in your username. Pick a group or make one and your home free.

But how do you get a CD key?

THe CD Key should be on the inside of the CD case(s) that you got with the game.
